Hi Ninjaviper. Can you please attach the whole dcs.log file?

Here's how to do it:

'Go Advanced'

'Manage Attachments'

'Browse...'

'Upload'

Then close the popup window and 'Submit Reply'

What happened before you had this black screen issue? Have you installed/uninstalled any mod?

Yes, it's the log file I was expecting, thank you. This is the error you're having:

2020-08-26 08:26:19.073 ALERT Dispatcher: Error starting Game GUI: [string "./MissionEditor/modules/TableUtils.lua"]:3: assertion failed!
Another user had the very same error and he fixed it. Please try renaming your C:\Users\your_name\DCS.openbeta\Config as "Config_old". The game will create a new one at startup.

Please tell us if it fixes the game. If it works, you will need to reset your settings, and also import your control bindings (I'll help you with that).

It worked! Thank you very much. I only need to set up everything. I think you know where to find te old keybindings?

Hardware setup is not that much work.

Thanks again!!

Excellent! :) Here's how to restore your control bindings:

1/ Copy the whole C:\Users\your_name\DCS.openbeta\Config_old\Input folder.

2/ Paste it in your new C:\Users\your_name\DCS.openbeta\Config folder and confirm replacement.

I have a similar error only some of the time. Instead of a black screen, I have a black screen with the Eagle Dynamics/DCS logo. The loading bar fails to appear and I never get to the main menu. I did a search of the dcs.log file and the same error does not appear.

I have a similar error only some of the time.

I've just read the part in bold, sorry. Yes, it's a known bug, and I think everybody has it. I'd say it happens 25% of the time on my rig. For now, there's only one solution: killing the process and start again.

Hi guys, do we have some FPS improvements in 2.5.6 OB? Last played before 2-3 months and performance was terrible, almost impossible to play smooth.

Thanks.

Wrong thread.

Here's the "flat screen" 2.5.6 performance thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=263428

And here's the VR 2.5. performance thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=263525

No, your issue is not the same at all. They were unable to launch the game. You are able to fly, but at some point, DCS crashes. Next time, please create your own thread.

Anyway, according to your log files, you're a victim of the classic "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" crash. This error is drawn by DirectX when the GPU is not responding anymore. It can happen with any GPU-demanding game.

Here's an interesting post explaining how to avoid this type of error.

In short, here's what you need to do to get rid of these crashes (no need to go down the list if the crashes stop in between):

  1. If your graphics card is overclocked (even factory overclocked), you'll want to reset it to the standard frequency (memory and core) as well as standard voltage.
  2. Set the high performance preset in your GPU control panel, as opposed to the high quality preset.
  3. Set Windows power settings to High performance in the Power Options in Control Panel.
  4. Also, beside High performance, click on Change plan settings, Change advanced power settings, in PCI Express and Link State Power Management change the Setting to Off.
  5. Make a clean install of your graphics card driver.
  6. If your PSU is not delivering enough power, get a better one.
