English Electric Lightning PLEASE!

YES! English Electric Lightning would be amazing, so much power, imagine going vertical from take-off. And supercruise without afterburner.

Modules: AV-8B, Hawk, Viggen, FC3, F-5E, MiG-21, Mirage 2000, L-39.

I think my wants (or needs) are based on DCS' currently available mission sets. We have OCA/DCA, Interdiction, Escort, CAS, Ground Strike, Maritime Strike, Recce, FAC, C2ISR, Tankers, and the rest of the fat kids but very little SEAD (no, true Jamming, HARM-chucking type-SEAD).

So, like someone mentioned years ago this thread, I want to round-out all of the DCS available roles.

The Mighty EA-6B Prowler would be my choice. Weasel/ Ironhand or Escort Don't imagine it could happen or even be simulated, but it would be nice.

+1 for the EA-6B. It's ugliness is on par with the A-10 so it seems like a no-brainer to have it in DCS.

Joking aside, it would be great, as mentioned, to have a true SEAD platform. It would compliment the other mission sets and aircraft really well.

Anything with a proper tailhook that can land on a carrier.

And helicopters.

But honestly, I'll be buying whatever they release. My wallet is always at the ready for new airplanes, from RAZBAM or anyone else who wants to make airplanes for DCS. I enjoy flying anything.

They could release Leonard Milholand's Legal Eagle with a half-VW engine and I'd buy it. Imagine it, "DCS: Legal Eagle".

I prefer to stick with military stuff, though. But my heart has softened over the years towards the idea of non-fighter stuff in DCS.

I'd like to see RAZBAM develop some maps, along with their aircraft.

So basically, RAZBAM can make whatever they want and I'll buy it. So far, I love the Harrier and the M-2000C, so I'm a RAZBAM fan.

Piper Cub. I'd love to make a 10 foot landing on a building without any VTOL stuff. Lol

In all seriousness, I opt for a WWII fighter, P-38L especially. Or flyable DC-3. I just want to start two piston engines, instead of one. The Lightning and Gooney Bird are iconic in their respective theaters and purposes.

The picture of Jack Ilfrey's Lightning reminds me of one of the greatest fighter stories, where he was out of ammo and a 109 was shooting at his wingman and looking over and laughing because he knew Ilfrey was out of ammo. Ilfrey rammed him, his port engine and wing went through the empenage of the German fighter, cutting it in half, Jack flew home on one engine.

Off topic, but too good not to share....

Where did you hear or read this? Lately I've been trying to find a website or something to find recounts from WWII. No luck for me.

I think I read it in a book called "Aces Against Germany" by Eric Hammel. The above story was from when he was flying in the desert, so not the Lightning in the picture, but it would have no doubt been the same name. He carried "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" on all of his aircraft as far as I know, but for sure 2 Lightnings and one Mustang that I've seen.

  • 2 weeks later...
B1 or B-52.

The pilot side of both would get boring pretty quickly, all the weapons stuff is done by the navs or WSO's on both planes. Also, most people here don't realize how bad the BUFF's handling is, it is a hard airplane to fly (I used to fly the BUFF and did a 45 min handling qual eval once upon a time ago).
