Knock-Knock
Had a few occations lately, where Id run into a massive stutter party. Game would freeze, or just very low framerate, and after some 30 seconds or so, it would normalize again. Then yesterday it happened again, twice, and both times I alt tab'ed out to see Task Manager, cause it felt like it was swapping. And sure enough, my 16Gb had maxed out, and it would normalize again with 15.7gb used. On both occasions. This is something new. I havent experienced that before. So I went ahead and checked same mission, and same settings in 2.5.2 stable, and the memory consumption was far less, when loaded in and sitting on the ramp. 2.5.3.21444 2.5.2.20785 On Desktop 3.16 Gb 3.19 Gb Loaded into DCS 8.45 Gb 4.22 Gb Loaded into mission 13.9 Gb 9.82 Gb What 4 Gb extra is it loading in for the 2.5.3 menu? - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Knock-Knock
Just had a look in the resource monitor to see if something would stand out. In the attached screengrabs, Ive just loaded into the DCS menu again, and there I can see that 2.5.3's (PID 6428) Working Set is far bigger than 2.5.2's (PID 4236), for what ever reason. So what ever is going on there, 2.5.3 takes a huge bite. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Knock-Knock
Found the culprit after some blind stabbing. Dont know why this is though, here goes. 2.5.3 OB as above posts. Full Screen is ticked, memory in menu goes out of hand. Untick Full Screen, game reloads, memory is now similar to 2.5.2. Tick Full Screen again, game reloads, memory remains similar to 2.5.2 Exit game, start game again (this is with Full Screen ticked), and memory use in menu is high again. Untick Full Screen, game reloads, memory is similar to 2.5.2 again. Exit game, start game again (this is with Full Screen unticked), and memory use is similar to 2.5.2 still. And for good messure. Started game again (this is with Full Screen unticked), and memory use is similar to 2.5.2 still. Go figure. P.s. All of these tests were performed in 1080p on monitor. Not VR. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
BitMaster
 edit: I tried myself after posting and followed your steps letter by letter but I cannot reproduce, I ALWAYS end up with 69xxMB RAM and 11xxxMB PageFile, no matter how I load DCS and if FS or WM engaged. DCS OpenBeta ver.: 2.5.3.21444 My settings are 2560x1440, if that matters. My Desktop has same res. Either way, I don't want to leave the impression DCS needs little RAM, LOL, hell NO ! edit2: I also tested DCS Stable 2.5.2.20785 and the numbers are identical throughout the procedure, if at all, stable uses a tiny bit more, I saw 7000MB and 12000MB numbers but they dropped back to above numbers usually in a matter of 30 secs, all in all, you couldnt tell by the numbers which version and which mode, always 69xxMB and 11xxxMB, everywhere. NeMoGas
Yes I have noticed this issue as well. I created a thread about it here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215797 I seemed like it was an issue with the Harrier, but even in other modules the memory usage is far higher than it was a few months back when the memory manager was first implemented. Tj1376
:joystick: I can only give that much and I guess ED asks for a lot more than what I do and can do. :pilotfly: Did you ever figure out how to fix this? I had 16 gig and noticed I was running out. Had 8 gig of dissimilar ram laying around and threw it in to see if it would boot. It did and now DCS eats 23 gig of ram. I fly with others who say DCS on high textures only uses 12 gig, and here I am using twice that. :( TJ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
