The sound and dynamics of its change from speed is changed. Please wait for the next update.

Hi btd, thank you very much for the reply. Looking forward to it.

Still don’t understand why that sound has been busted, it was perfectly OK before.

  • 1 month later...

Just updated to STABLE DCS version 2.5.4.30386

This issue is STILL not fixed.

Is it really so difficult?

Was perfectly OK in 2.5.3

I hope for a fix, but for now, I just turn down the cockpit volume.

If only it would be so easy!

The two files responsible for the annoying, far too loud, rumble noise are these:

A10InHeAmbL.wav

A10InHeAmbR.wav

Found in \Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts\Engines.

I just reduced the volume of these with a wave editor, so that's fixed.

But the biggest problem is tat of the turbine sound wich INEXPLICABLY gets quieter with more throttle / speed.

The sound of the A-10 has been good for literally YEARS now.

ED why are you making it much worse now?

Am I the only one who thinks it's okay?

Master volume 100%

In-cockpit 50%

Hear like in helmet YES

YES, most probably you are the only who thinks it's okay...

Do you find correct that he turbine sound INEXPLICABLY gets quieter with more throttle / speed?

I'm not an IRL hog driver and I think that with the increase in speed the noise of the air increases, which overlaps with that of the engines, which is why the engine makes more noise on the ground.

So why is it no so in ALL other DCS planes?

I don't think he's the only one who's not really disturbed by the new engine sound. May the turbine sound change INEXPLICABLY or not. Chose the option "hear like in helmet" and it won't make a lot of a difference. I'm flying the A-10C not analyzing it's sound during flight. Maybe others, too. I think you're producing a drama where there is none.

A-10A, A-10C, A-10C II, AV-8B, F-5E, F-16C, F/A-18C, F-86F, Yak-52, Nevada, Persian Gulf, Syria, Supercarrier, Combined Arms, FW 190 A-8, FW 190 D-9, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Normandy + WWII Assets Pack

Not a drama, but why change things wich were perfectly ok before?

Simply maybe because was not perfect before.

When I first felt the change, I immediately appreciated it. The sound on the ground with stationary aircraft is more realistic to me. And assuming that the drag of the aircraft is very high I get a loud noise flying due to air noise on the canopy or during strong manouver.

It was not perfect, but better than it is now.

If that drag sound covers the sound of the turbines, why does this not

happen with other DCS aircraft? And I have them all....

This you have to ask him, not me!

I have asked him, but no replies.

Such a chaos with the sounds of the A-10.

They are literally scattered in many directories, not like other aircrafts.

The aircraft is stationary on the ground and High speed in the air,the sound is the same.

Rumbling noise always the same as long as engine is running.

This should be incorrect.

I completely agree that the sound is incorrect,

but the sound on the ground and High speed in the air IS NOT the same,

it is just the opposite as it should be, see my explanation below.

A10InHeAmbL.wav

A10InHeAmbR.wav

But the biggest problem is the turbine sound wich INEXPLICABLY gets QUIETER with more throttle / speed, instead of LOUDER as it should be, and as it is in all other DCSaircrafts.

They directly said it's going to be fixed, why are you still whining, you like copy pasted same posts over and over. All you need to do is to present your case why you feel it's wrong and how you think it should be, that can be done in one post.

There's probably some changes that got in due to prepwork on the A-10 update, or, some general update that encompased the sounds but wasn't compatible with these specific sounds. However if the change is realistically correct, I guess not much we can do about it, similarly as with the F/A-18C WW2 Propellor in F2 view in certain circumstances.

Well, you are wrong there, there is much one can do about it, as I did eliminating that rumbling noise. And I am very much whining, yes, the sound of the glorious A-10 was nearly perfect, and they have messed it up.

I mean rumbling noise is same.

Wind sound changes with speed, rumbling noise does not.

Similarly, turbine sound changes with the throttle, rumbling noise does not change with the throttle.

That rumbling noise is easily corrected, as I have posted before.

The wrong turbine noise is more difficult, but I'm on it.

Sure, but I think we all see what the filenames are from the first post.

Yes, fixing manually it's all good and healthy for the community, nothing against that, just why the drama if it looks like it wasn't intentional, or was it?

Just to interject a little something on that subject, the post you're referring to was made on 4-8-19 and said "in the next update". There have been a few "next updates" since then, and the sound issue remains. Much like "whining" can be done with one post, so can one's disagreement with the subject of said "whining". ED has acknowledged that the sound is incorrect, and said they were fixing it in the "next update" in a post more than a month ago. The OP is pointing out that it hasn't been fixed. Not sure why its a problem for him to do that. Anyway, any time any of us don't like the topic of a discussion, we all have the option of not reading it and/or participating in it. Just sayin'. :D
