Thermal Imaging Problem In 2.5

I'm pretty sure that this has been discussed about ED needing to update the thermal imaging system in DCS World but in CA the trees show up as bright white hot and some running vehicles don't show up at all. Any news on if this problem will be addressed soon? The tank is visible in thermal in this comparison but I've noticed that some others like BTR's don't.

Take upper picture into simple picture editor and make following steps:

1) make it monochrome

2) make picture negative

3) tune Gamma to 0.4

4) increase contrast to 70

Voala, you will get this.

Only difference is that script for DCS IR is not counting shadows.

Dont expect anything more than this, it will be not worth of money when compared with problems with programing IR simulation of the temp changing across the day/months of year/different map locations/ target moving - static ... almost whole new simulator. Who will pay this???

They actually don't like that from what I've seen and read NineLine. That picture looks like it's been altered or that's really poor quality TI. It's my understanding that in high quality and military grade systems the trees blend into the background. I posted some pictures back awhile and here's the link.

Trees can be seen on IR but they don't show up as bright white like in CA. You can very easily see tanks and running vehicles through trees in IR. In CA you can't see anything through a row of trees currently. It's like looking at a wall of white.

In these pictures you can clearly see the difference. The Humvee is warm and the bushes and trees in the background blend in. You can see with the inset picture the difference.

This one with people shows even better how trees blend more with the terrain.

No, its not right, I did report that shadows dont get drawn in IR view, but for the most part we need to wait, FLIR is getting an overhaul for the Hornet at ATFLIR pod. So until then we will have to muster through, Wags did share with me some knowledge though, and I will now try and share it with all of you and not screw it up :)

Biomass and water will retain heat during night, but retain coolness during day so, that image was a night shot (the one I shared above with the bull) but, during thermal cross over at dusk and dawn, thermal values are in balance and you get much less contrast.

RGR, thanks for the information. At least they're aware of this problem from what you've posted and I'll just have to be patient and wait for updates. I'm glad they're redoing the ATFLIR but it does look really good in 2.5 now. Hopefully it will be even better.
