What’s This on the HUD

Just to the right and below the velocity vector, above the horizon line, there’s this open cross tick mark. What is it?

It's the "true" velocity vector. When the TVV is caged the HUD displays a ghost TVV where the uncaged one would be. The TVV can be toggled between caged and uncaged with the throttle Uncage button, and I believe it is always caged in A/A mode.
