I know the beta is not meant to be 100% bugfree and you can still go back to stable, but the realitiy is that most MP server use OB and not being able to use the F-14 without some quirky workarounds in MP is really a bummer :/

This is important ED, why aren't you helping HB with this?

It has been difficult to get information regarding this issue from ED. There's not much we can do about it and we have been asking about status on this.

There is a little workaround for this:

- Kneel down

- Connect with shuttle

- Hold down AGAIN the "kneel down" button for about 5 seconds

- push throttle forward

- salute

- have a nice flight :) :pilotfly:

for me it works and i tested this on MP Servers

Best greetings

After the last open beta patch, DCS keeps crashing on me in mid flight. I am able to fly the Hornet without a crash OTOH.

Flew the Hornet on the Aeronautics open-beta server and worked great. Flew Tomcat again was able to trap fine. Tapping the nose strut down 3-5 times didn't help me launch but holding it for a few seconds seemed to. Then DCS crashed again. :\

Hey guys the issue is known and I am seeing activity on the report, I hope to have some news soon. Thanks.

Is there any special reason that this is not fixed since 1 1/2 months?

Or that even HB says that there is no info from ED to them on that bug / status?

This bug makes the Tomcat useless in the way it should be used, and it is a full price module. I guess this would be fixed within a day if it would affect the Hornet.

  • ED Team
can we get a hotpatch on this before the next week?

I don't know about a hotfix, it would have to be fixed first, then we can decide when it should come out.

I really can't say, I am not the contact person for them, so I don't know anything about the communication channels. I assumed everything was ok there as we are just getting a development version of the F-14 on our dev builds. But again, I really don't know enough to say, I have just been poking people that it's not done yet.

As I understood it, the F-14 works fine otherwise, and there is even a workaround for these issues. So saying its useless is probably too strong, but this is a serious bug that needs to be fixed.

I didn't know about the workaround until yesterday. Before that I was avoiding the carrier or going to the back of the boat and doing afterburner short launches.

Since 45317 game randomly crashes for me mid flight in the Tomcat, but not with Hornet. This might not be widespread but happens every time since the latest patch. Begs the question if there's a known bug and workaround I haven't been able to find yet...

Could ED maybe put up a web page or even sticky forum post with known bugs, ETR and workarounds or mitigation?

If the crash is only in the Tomcat, its best to report that directly to HB, in the case of this bug, due to it being an interaction with a core item, the carrier, it is required for ED to at least be involved.

It has been reported to Heatblur directly multiple times(3 at least) since the day one of 2.5.6 OB released, and they Heatblur said what is not a issue which can be done by their own alone side.

That answer was in response to the mid-flight crash the above user was experiencing, not the carrier issue.

Just an FYI for those who never served on a carrier, the catapults are numbered from starboard side to port. The bow cats are cat 1 (starboard side of the bow), cat 2 (port side), cat 3 is the inside waist cat and cat 4 is on the port side of the waist (cantilevered deck).

It is Catapult 2 on the bow that will kill you with the F14. It seems to act like your riding a bronco as you swing around, pivoting on the unmoving shuttle.

Considering that thread and the answer from Heatblur

The catapult functionality and on-deck handling
, it is obvious that the problem includes F-14B Carrier Launch issue.

Further more, more than one users reported this bug to directly Heatblur earlier and Heatblur said it was not a issue can be done by their alone, and then we posted the same problem here.

Welcome to the DCS game "pass-the-buck" between ED and third party devs.
