Easy way to extract gauges and MFD's?

Recommended Posts

Hello to all,

I'm an 50 year old dog, who is a fan of all kind of military simulations since the late 80's.

I'm building a universal, military homecockpit at the moment for use with any kind of military flight simulator, not only DCS :music_whistling:

What I'm searching for is an easier way to extract gauges and MFD's to external monitors in DCS. I have heard about DCS-Bios, Helios etc. but you have to fiddle around with LUA-scripts or something else and I'm really no code-guy :smilewink:

Is there anything comparable in DCS, like YAME for BMS, or things like FSDisplays, simPlugins or AirManager for FSX can do?

Inputs are no problem. I use a bunch of Pokeys 57U cards for that with simple keyboard emulation, which are able to run every kind of simulator (you can even control word or excel from the cockpit if you want to do so :megalol:), but the outputs for gauges and MFD's in DCS makes me headaches.

Howdy,

Have you beat on the age thing... you ain't old yet.

Just got started in DCS, in particular the F/A-18C since I used to design and build those simulators for the US Navy starting back in the 80's. Man, I wish I had what they have now! Back then I designed some hardware and had to write the low-level code for it so the software weenies could make that part of the sim 'work' like the real thing, be it a gauge, display, instrument, whatever.

Anyway, I'm looking possibly to do the same but build a F/A-18 cockpit. Heard of the Pokeys boards, might look into that. Just stared looking into pulling data myself when I have more spare time. If I find something that is not on the list you mentioned, I'll let you know.

Good luck
