USB devices not working after wake from hibernate

Recommended Posts

Anyone can offer some help trying to troubleshoot this issue I am having with hibernate?

I really like the hibernate feature but it is causing havoc with my CH pedals and HOTAS Warthog, they don't work after the computer wakes up from hibernate...

I have tried everything I could think of, the only thing that really worked for a short time was editing the registry additional critical workers threads and that was the only thing that gave me results.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, I love using the hibernate feature and other than this one problem with my devices it would be perfectly working.

I'm running Win7 64 bit.

I had this problem too and changed power plan to High Perfomance and everything stays put since then.

not finding that, but under advanced power options I do have selective USB suspend setting set to disabled but the devices still power off...

If your PC is a gaming PC, turn that hibernate feature off. It's probably only good for a laptop? and I couldn't image it would save a lot of power when your not using your PC.

You want "high performance" selected first, then play with the options. Then you know DCS is getting max system resources possible also.

Well I want it to hibernate, I just want it to work the same as before it went to hibernate when I resume it...

(people in the house complain of the PC noise and I hate rebooting the PC all the time...)

Don't think there is away around it using hibernation? Try using sleep mode perhaps....

Never used hibernate, sounds like the PC is off anyway.

Very EASY:

Copy a shortcut from the BATTERY icon to your Desktop, then you can switch power plans as you need it right away.

You do not need to disable anything in the Bios or such, just disable USB PowerSavings in the settings of the powerplan(s) you are using during the day.

Sleep mode = blinking Poer LED ( still juice on the board )

Hibernate = ALL OFF ( no more power to the internals, you can dissamble it )

Modern Intel CPU's have such a fast Ramp-Up speed that I cannot tell the difference of the Powerstates I am in. That was before 7th gen came out. From 7thgen and later, they are blazing fast to ramp up from 0.8 to 5G. In DCS it stays full clock anyway in my scenarios.

For Intel before KabyLake it makes sense to put the CPU to full power, yes.

ahh no.. You do have that Icon, it's a Sub-Icon of your Control Panel-->System & Security-->Battery Icon, it's called "Energy" I guess in english versions. It's a green Battery only actually.

..and you already FOUND the actual setting, "selective USB energy blabla" turn that OFF.

I would set the PC to "HIGH PERFORMANCE" mode when you game, it's safer this way to avoid stutter and lag if you suffer from those. i dont either way I set it btw, same with 7700k. 6700k and earlier should really set this option.

For a SandyBridge you for sure need to set this for optimum config ;)

Let me show you a screenshot from Win10 ( very similar Cpanel layout ).

oh yeah, I know where to find those settings... But that disables the computer to go to sleep...

I want the computer to go to sleep, but when it wakes up I want everything working like normal and it is not... USB devices stop working (still powered up tho I think)

Sleep is a poorly implemented function. I disable all sleep and hibernate options. If you want it to be off there is a shutdown process for that (which I only use when on vacation or cleaning the inside of the box). I have two desktops, a laptop, a Surface Pro4 and two Synology NAS boxes and they all run nearly 24/7. When idle the power draw is insignificant.

If you want that function to always work, A L W A Y S...then buy a Mac !

It has failed over and over on any windows I have ever seen, from Win95 to Win10.

,,but it never ever let me down on the mac, that's a fact.

My Windows runs 24/7/365 in Balanced Power Mode but Sleep is disabled, as well as any Energy Savings for USB or PCIe etc...
