Module Manager won't install modules, closes DCS.

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

I'm having the same problem as described in this 2 year old thread-

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217326

I did a clean install of DCS 2.5 and have been trying to install some of my modules.

I start DCS with admin rights and it signs in fine.

The module manager shows I have 6 modules that are ready to be installed.

I click on OK and DCS instantly closes to the Desktop.

If open module manager and scroll down through all the modules to the ones I have, I click on Install and DCS instantly closes to the Desktop.

I managed to install some modules via the command line.

FC3; A-10C; Ka-50 installed fine this way.

If I do DCS_Updater.exe Install UH-1H it starts with, connecting to update servers.

Then a small error window,

DCS Updater 2.9.16.18

Unknown module uh1h

Same thing happens for P-51D

Here is the end of the LOG-

00000.082 STATUS: Initializing...

00000.084 INFO : basedir: G:\DCS World\bin

I even went as far as to manually add the DCS.exe and DCS_Updater.exe to the firewall rules, to allow through public and private networks.

Avast Anti-Virus is installed but not showing any issues with DCS.

The only other thing I can see, if I R-Click on the DCS World folder, and select Properties, it shows the folder Attributes as Read-Only.

Is that normal?

PC specs-

CPU- i7-2600K

RAM- 8GB

GPU - Nvidia 1070 8GB

I'm stumped, please help me.

Try using Skate's Updater GUI Utility

Easy to use once setup.

I have also ran into that problem before from time to time....

Once you link your DCS build or builds to the app. Then go to aircraft modules (Pick the one's to install)

Then hit install selected modules.

Note:

Also know need to uninstall / reinstall DCS. I'm on the same DCS from 2 PC ago + with all Updates.

You can copy DCS to a drive and copy it back to new pc, copy it twice and change one version stable / beta or other old version etc.

You just run a clean and repair etc, on the install and done.

Thank you for your reply.

I forgot to mention that I also tried through Skate's Updater.

The DCS folder path and Saved games path show green lights.

I select the Aircraft Modules and it shows the current installed modules as green.

If I select any of the my other modules, it does not give me an option to install.

Should I login on Skate's Updater in some way?

If I click on Repair in the utility it does nothing?

Just so I understand what you are saying;

Should I copy my DCS World game folder to another drive and then run a repair?

No need to move or copy DCS.

You should be able to repair any version you have on your pc anywhere.

Just tie them into Skates app etc. Then switch to them when using that build.

You can even copy paste the save game folder (Rename) and tie that into a separate build.

Go to (applications) setting first and make sure the build and save game folder you are using is setup there.

Then just select the ones in red (Not installed) then hit install selected modules.

After extensive troubleshooting I found that when I wanted to uninstall DCS, the DCS Uninstall pointed to a different HDD that did not exist anymore.

I copied DCS to mimic that drive, and was able to do a full uninstall.

I installed DCS from scratch, and now it finally showed my modules and it started the install for each module, through the DCS Module Manager.
