[REPORTED] BALT A/P engagement during high speed dive

Recommended Posts

Issues

  • BALT A/P engagement during high speed dive results in catastrophic wing failure

How to reproduce

  • Dive approx 25 degrees at 450 knots
  • Press A/P on UFC
  • Pres BALT on UFC

I did try searching for real world Hornet wing failures, and also checked NATOPS for appropriate warnings.

I haven't checked the Hornet's doc. (when I get home) but I do remember from Super's sim the parameters for engagement of any A/P mode were less then 45 deg. in pitch and less then 70 bank angle. So... I imagine at 450 knots the leveling shouldn't be too violent.:joystick:

The selected altitude should be displayed on scratchpad or 'somewhere' for few seconds.

Of course this is a bug. No FCS would allow a violent pullup to snap the wings off. If your FCS switch is in ORIDE the A/P would not engage.
