speed-of-heat
Hi Guys, I'm sure many of you will have seen this MoD: F/A-18C Cockpit Displays - Readability at High Resolution - V2.5 but the impact on readability in VR is frankly amazing! the main file that controls this <DCS>\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\Multipurpose_Display_Group\Common\indicator\MDG_strokesDefs.lua and the code for that file is modified to this: stroke_thickness = 0.9 stroke_fuzziness = 0.15 -- Currently is used for DMC generated fonts black outline DMC_outline_thickness = stroke_thickness * 1 DMC_outline_fuzziness = stroke_fuzziness * 1 DMC_stroke_thickness = 1.5 DMC_stroke_fuzziness = 0.15 there is a slight "scanline" artefact for me, but the visual clarity is brilliant. thanks @Rackham! Cosmic_AK
Wont this mod affect the new "SA" page? When picking up DL signals from other aircraft or interrogating NCCTR.....Doesn't this cause the symbology in the AMPCD to change from yellow to red? Wont this make it impossible to differentiate between friend and foe in reference to own ship AMPCD if the text color is already red?
speed-of-heat
Not running the beta path, so no way of me telling. That said if you just make the changes to thickness and fuzz it won't have any impact other than what I mentioned SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware Intel Corei7-12700KF @ 5.1/5.3p & 3.8e GHz, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Dell S2716DG, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
Habu_69
Remarkable improvement in OB in MFD display, as well as HUD! All Rift users should employ this.

It only changes the thickness and burliness of how the objects/text is drawn. It does not affect color or the overall shape. speed-of-heat
YMMV, but if a cockpit for the aircraft has a MDG_strokesDefs.lua file or file containing the same variables then I would guess "yes" SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware Intel Corei7-12700KF @ 5.1/5.3p & 3.8e GHz, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Dell S2716DG, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

obious
I'm going to install this later when I get home but do I need to copy over the materials.lua file as well as the MDG_strokesDefs.lua? Also, what will happen if I don't remove/revert to the old fiels before updating? Will the update fail the validation check? speed-of-heat
if you can find this file MDG_strokesDefs.lua under the huey or harrier then likely it would work, or similar varibles SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware Intel Corei7-12700KF @ 5.1/5.3p & 3.8e GHz, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Dell S2716DG, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

VirusAM
Improved VR MFD clarity yep these are a much better compromise and the HMD works! Guys...what i am doing wrong? I tried also this settings but I didn’t have improved readability...worse instead....the ddi lines (and hud and hmd) were really “aliased”. I reverted back to stock settings and i have to say that in the hud and ddi I don’t have to much difficulty...yes could be better..but the real problem in the hornet is the amcd in hsi and sa page with map activated. Maybe a solution could be a mod with a black background under the text labels?i am thinking of the a10c map page which is done this way and it is quite readable. I know it is not realistic...but also not being capable of reading the pages is realistic i think...so this being a simulation some compromises have to be done R7-5800X3D 64GB RTX-4090 LG-38GN950 Valve Index VPForce Rhino FFB, Virpil F-14 (VFX) Grip, Virpil Alpha Grip, Virpil CM3 Throttle + Control Panel 2, Winwing Orion (Skywalker) Pedals, Razer Tartarus V2 SpeedMaster Flight Seat, JetSeat
