I'm sure the folks in the suburbs there won't mind having a few thousand pounds of jet fuel crash through their roof

:music_whistling: Mud Hen drivers had no choice. Mig's 'n' Su's just crashed their party (out of frame). :) Follow-up clips soon!

Thoughts to date...

Still VERY much a work in progress, but I think I've settled on 1080p/60fps as the sweet-spot for rendering and publishing. I think the in-game frame-by-frame-from-track rendering is brilliant...but finicky. Anything more than a minute long I find crashes DCS. 30fps tests have been decent, but 60 is noticeably smoother. 4k vs 1080 tests have given me limited detail improvement with MASSIVE processing overhead.

I think DCS is a combat-aviation-film-maker-wannabe's dream come true. Thank you ED!!! All thoughts and pearls of wisdom are welcome as I continue to experiment. Cheers!

Video Philosophy & Workflow

My current video-making focus, as a DCS newb, is to create and run AI-only missions. Until I can gain some basic competency in flying and employing my bird(s) of choice, I'll let the AI do the heavy lifting. :) While progressing on the video-side, I'm still researching and practicing various techniques. As of this moment, but guaranteed to change with more experience...

Current Work Flow/Tools:

1. Create mission in editor.

2. Run mission and end once desired events are complete.

3. Note time of key events in debrief.

4. Playback *.trk file and make desired view changes; using key event timings a guide.

5. Save *.trk. Include multiple backup copies.

6. Maximize graphics settings in options.

7. Open *.trk in mission editor.

8. Record uncompressed *.avi clip(s); 1 min. max., max. quality, 1080p, 60 fps.

9. Go for coffee. :)

10. Load new *.avi in VirtualDub for basic editing and export as highest quality H.264.

11. Delete *.avi.

12. Load H.264 clip(s) into Davinci Resolve for final post production and publishing.

13. Share on YouTube & ED forum!

For me, when I play a track file back in game, it seems that it hardly ever bears any resemblance to what I have done on the flight. It usually depicts my plane crashing or completely missing the runway on a landing or some such. Do you have any tricks to get more reliable replay tracks? Do you ever get the mismatch between what happened in the mission and what the track looks like?

Hey John. So far, I haven't seen any discrepancies between my original mission 'flight' and subsequent *.trk playbacks. I suspect this is due to my not currently flying myself; less data for the *.trk to record?

Why the Echo Eagles dropped their tanks... Final test before real post-production begins. LOL. Did my cuts in slo-mo; not realizing how fast they would be real time. Doh!

Saint's DCS-Cine Keyboard-Kneeboard

As I envy the DCS creations on YouTube, I realize I am not using all the available tools. Many view/camera-related pearls of wisdom were scattered throughout the forums, but I wanted a comprehensive reference.

So, I went straight to the source - in-game key-bindings. Was able to get an HTML of view-related commands. Then proceeded to edit/format/streamline for ease of use on a smartphone (single column). Of course the left/right key-modifiers are colour-coded to match our AC nav lighst. :P Cheers!

Sorry for all attachment edits in the previous post. Decided on a phone-friendly format and had to tidy it up. Cheers!
