Kneeboard wows

So I downloaded version 1.8.0.3, unzipped it and ran the exacutabe, nothing happened.

Downloaded version 1.7.1.1, did thesame procedure and nothing happed.

Oh well .... decided to play DCS without the Kneeboard Builder.

Now DCS opens in a small window which after 30 seconds becomes black and nothing happens .....

Any advice :(

My first look a KB using OpenBeta and I Import a PDF and I only have the default planes (I own about 10) listed to import it into, what am I doing wrong?

Set to "Custom" instead of OpenBeta, works now..

I use this program for a while now and love it. Many thanks for this.

Actually I have an issue trying to create a Kneeboard for the F-16C. The kneeboard folder inside of the "saved games" folder gets the correct sheets added. But the position is not the one I choose. I have a multi screen setup and the standard kneeboard position is on the small display of one of my MFDs. So I positioned it to my right large screen and it works for the Hornet and the Hog. But for the Viper it fails. Any idea?

Thanks,

Xoxen

Edit: Got it to run, forgot to create a profile for the F-16C, my fault. Everything now works like it should.

I just tried to use this, but as soon as I click on the ".miz" button, the program just shut down. Any ideas?

Try to run it with Admin privileges (right click its shortcut -> Compatibility -> Run as admin)

Ok, I managed somehow to get it working. Great app, big benefit, thank you!

But i run into one problem:

INSERTING KNEEBOARD INTO EXISTING MISSIONS:

With version 1.4.0.0 you can now insert kneeboard images into existing missions. The kneeboard will be global and visible to all aircraft. I haven't been able to figure out how to do selective kneeboards for each aircraft (if even possible).

Backup your missions before inserting a kneeboard just in case something goes wrong. (I have not had any issues yet with .miz files becoming corrupted, but you never know...)

1) From the 'Create Custom Kneeboard' tab, select the kneeboard groups you would like to add your mission(s).

2) Click on the '.miz' button on the lower right side of the window.

3) Select a single mission or multiple missions in the file browser dialog and click 'Open'.

4) Your selected kneeboard groups will be automatically inserted into each selected mission, overwriting any existing kneeboard already in the mission.

Tip: If you want to clear a kneeboard from a mission or missions, perform steps 2-3 without selecting any kneeboard groups to add.

It does not work for me to remove it from a mission.

If I am not moving a group to the right side in step 1, I can't click on the .miz button in step two, as it is greyed out.

Any advice?

If it doesn't work don't use it. I have found KBB a very useful tool. But it's also finicky, and I have less headaches if I just use the basic features that work.

I'd like to use Kneeboard Builder to simply move the kneeboard and maybe resize it since I use two monitors with Cougar MFD panels. The KBB website doesn't seem to have a guide on how to do this. Can anyone point me to instructions?

FYI need

Always had problems installing Kneeboard Builder having custom directories for both DCS and the Saved Games

had 4 blank pages that were the auto-mission briefings supposedly

did some thinking

copied from the KneeboardBuilder program install directory e.g.

".. <files>\KneeboardBuilder"

the directory

" .. <files>\KneeboardBuilder\Kneeboard Groups\General DCS World Kneeboard\Dynamic Mission Briefing\LuaPreviewImages"

has the 4 lua files for generating the mission data pages

and copy/add this to

"xx:\Saved Games\DCS xxxx\Kneeboard\

thus creating

"xx:\Saved Games\DCS xxxx\Kneeboard\LuaPreviewImages

et voila

4 mission data pages show again

Hello,

I just installed this wonderful software is kneeboard and I take this opportunity to thank his developer for us to make it available free of charge.

However, I have a problem because I can not create a profile. Indeed, in Options, I have kneeboard Profiles and then modify which is grayed out and Restore default.

I do not have Kneeboard Settings but only Kneeboard Profiles.

Is this normal?

So how to change the size of the kneeboard?

Thanking you.

Great program

The autogenerated mission briefing when flying my FA18C comes up with

millibar for pressure while the sample in the folder shows western inches mercury.

How do I change my Mb back to Hg or what is going on?

Plz, how to make kneeboard folder for only Nevada or only Persian Gulf?

For Nevada, place the .png or .pdf files on \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\Nevada\Kneeboard\

For Persian Gulf, use \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\PersianGulf\Kneeboard\

Since these locations are within the Program's folder, they will eventually be overwritten by DCS Updates, so it works best if you place the files using a Mod Manager, i use OvGME, like this:

ok, if DCS update deletes added files in DCS install folder that would be stupid

I know that I shouldnt be drawn onto pointless arguments, but please note that is why I qualified my response with: "Since these locations are within the Program's folder, they will eventually be overwritten by DCS Updates, so it works best if you place the files using a Mod Manager, i use OvGME"

The point to argue is, does DCS update remove added files in the kneeboard folder, or only updates existing files with changed ones and adds new files to their default kneeboard if ever, is that the case or not, isn't it.

There is absolutely no point in researching or arguing about it; any file, outside of the Bazar\Liveries\ but inside the Eagle Dynamics\ directory structures, is subject to change by ED during any update without warning. Because of this, it is highly advisable to use a GME (Generic Mod Enabler) such as the here noted OvGME.

Using a GME means before every update re-modding every mod you have implemented, which with OvGME requires opening a menu and issuing a single click. After updates you build a new snapshot file and reimplement your mods (you have setup profiles for which mods are active for switching between configurations, which works again as simple as opening a menu and clicking).

So there is no excuse for not using a GME, unless you only use like one mode, then just copy it in after every update and don't worry about the rest.

Sometimes it is better to use the solution on hand than spend effort to find a new solution. The question is, how much time will I save with a new solution and how much time will it cost to invent this new solution. So it depends on the situation.

In this situation my assessment is that the solution on hand is the better investment. It's safe and has been used over years without problems.

However, if there IS the promise of an overall improvement with a new solution, I'm all for looking into it. That's how I switched from JSGME to OvGME. I just don't see it here.
