RCAF Fictional Skins for different modules

Recommended Posts

Greetings guys,

Since i've made so far a few skins for different modules as for the RCAF. I decided to crate a poste and regroup them all in a single file, since such package can't be uploaded on the download section of ED download section. All of them are available on download section, but this packages gets them all in one piece, and i'll update each time i create new skins. To avoid playing around with Country_db.lua file, they are simply available in ME country drop menu as USA, CAN, UK, Ukkrain.

I tried to make them as close as possible to the real aircraft/helicopters, using proper makings, most of markings i recreated in Illustrator to keep good quality when scaling. Some of them do have customed Speculars and some of them also have costumed pilot skins.

Downloads list:

1- RCAF Fictional A-10C (Based on RCAF CH-146 Griffon for Camo and CF-188 for Low-Visibility)

Great skins and I have all of them. Question though....are you planning on making weathered versions of these? As we all know a lot of the RCAF birds have wicked streaking and weathered/bleached surfaces.

Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass.

I thought about it, since i've seen somones RCAF F/A-18C skin on here which is awesome, but for a start i made them not too weathered, i might try some and making weather channels in PSD more ovious and get some nasty speculars with matt spot more than what i have done so far. Guess i'll work on a weather versions for the F-15c, M-2000c as for the A-10c i lowered the weather on those version since it is a lot dirty in basic templates.

M-2000c and F-15c Weathered version almost done, thought about making a F/A-18C which i haven't done yet, i will then release a new version with all 3 new skins, might also adjust the A-10C Low-Visibility skin to look moew the CF-18 instead of the USAF with the odds shapes on fuselage and wings. But not sure yet about the A-10c. :pilotfly:

Awesome work guys. Can I ask for a 416 Lynx version of your skins. They were always my favorite.

It's a raining day today, so i'm thinking i might finish the F/A-18C one, i might only do the weathered version though, after i'm done, i can make you the 416 for the M-2000C, F-15C and F/A-18c. I did back then all Sqn in FSX for the VRS SuperBug modules, so i still have all tail arts, but not sure how the quality will look in DCS templates.

So far, the Hornet is almost done.

Hey doum I think the f15 could lose about 70 of the weathering beside the air brake until it goes past the wing root

Doum76, Thanks man, I'd really appreciate it.

Looks like the Hornet is coming along nicely.

I like your skins, however the Hornet should be more weathered at the plate joint lines IMHO, just like on your F-15 livery

Here's what it looks like so far. :) I did some adjustments on the normal version to lower some weathering done so there's a visible difference between both.

I think your next step on the weathered version should be experimenting with different levels of bleaching on the upper portions of the airframe. Looking really good so far.

Yep but they will stay as is to be honest, once creating the skin itself (markings, shapes all the basics stuff), doing the normal and weathered version plus experimenting the speculars channels, it ends up more than 10 hours on each aircraft, that's enough adding this spare time in Photoshop at home plus my everyday time in Photoshop at work it lefts me not much time to fly the sim. :)

No worries just if you ever want to keep working at them and want some feedback.

Feedbacks are really appreciated. But since i'm really attentioned to details, working on those can takes quite a long time, and at some point i need to stop or they would never get online because i am never satisfied with what it ends up with lol

  • 2 weeks later...

My other WIP, old CH-135 Twin Huey's color, i haven't played around with the pattern, simply used my fictionnal Griffon pattern and changed colors and markings, as for the flightsuit, i was not able to find helicopter pilot's suite from late 80's so i made them the same colors as late 80's fighter pilot's suit.
