BiBa
...I tried it today and it does work, this is the section name for the F-18: C:\Users\Papito\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\Server.lua..."This folder is automatically created when we define a SnapView, but if it has not been created yet, we can create it manually"... The path I found is different: C:\Users\BiBa\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\FA-18C_hornet. There is no Config\View file. In my Config there is only the Input file and its backup. In it are the classic fours: joystick, keyboard, mouse, trackir. Only the joystick folder is occupied with files. So could not find neither the server.lua nor the View.lua. To create it manually you say, we should define a Snapview. How do you you do that to create a View.lua data? BiBa...............BigBang WIN 11-64 Pro. MoBo: ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING. Rudel_chw
The path I found is different: C:\Users\BiBa\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\FA-18C_hornet. There is no Config\View file. In my Config there is only the Input file and its backup. When freshly installed, DCS will create a folder on Saved Games to store all the user's data & configuration. Normally this folder is named saved games\dcs .. but on your case its \saved games\dcs.openbeta. Some of its sub-folders are created by DCS when needed, for example the ScreenShots folder isnt there, but DCS will create it if you take a screenshot while running DCS. Same happens with the \Config\Input folder, it gets created when you use Options -> Controls to assign functions to your Hotas. To create it manually you say, we should define a Snapview. How do you you do that to create a View.lua data? Yes, the \Config\View folder is created by DCS the first time you save a snapview. If you dont know how to create snapviews, you can just use the Windows File Explorer to create the folder. Now, the file we need to edit in order to customize the 6DOF parameter isnt View.lua ... it's Server.lua, and its located within DCS program files folder ... the path is: \Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Config\View There, use Windows to copy the file server.lua into the View folder I described previously ... this is described in detail on the first posts of this thread. JEFX
Cant really test it, since I have a single monitor and mostly fly with Oculus ... but try to add this line on the F-18 section of Server.lua: CameraViewAngleLimits = {50.000000,190.000000}, The default is 20,140 Hope it works better than your current setup :) Wow! Rudel, that did it!!! First I did as you said and copied the view lines in server.lua from the view.lua file as you said, named it correctly (took a couple of tries) and nothing worked... now I did what you just said and LO it works! What I understand now is that those 2 numbers 20 and 140 are the lower and upper limits of the zoom axis and the default view is in the middle! therefore before I had something like 80 degrees (too close in my setup) and now with 50 and 190 my default view is now something like 120, just what I wanted!!! good to know!! thanks! Scotch75
Hey Folks, many thanks for this guide and discussion. One question though: How do I get my TrackIR centre (run through TrackIR software) to be the same as my default view? After using zoom in/out to look for ground movers, I'd like to just hit my TrackIR centre keypress to return to default view/FOV. Cheers! Nealius
On my PC, I have this entry on the Server.lua: The commented 6DOF line is the stock setting, the uncomented is my custom values. Just tried them and it does work, but dont have time right now to make a video of it :) Best regards It appears my Server.lua file in Saved Games is no longer working with DCS. My F-86 6DOF limits, which worked before, no longer work now. CameraTerrainRestriction changes also won't work.

Nealius
Previously the Saved Games one was overriding the default one. Then I installed Persian Gulf and all of a sudden the default overrides the Saved Games. I'll have to try a repair, then ask for help in the Bugs section if I can't get it fixed. Frag
WOW ... this thing should me made a sticky. It is vital information when using head tracking. I was really disappointed of not being able to see any switches while moving forward in my seat. I understand the idea of being realistic, but this feature is rather more of an annoying limitation if we cannot see the label switches. I think that by default DCS should let head tracking software user zooming in on the switches by moving forward/backward. NICE WORK HERE! I will try it out tonight for sure. I'd love to know if anyone has had any luck with the L-39 too. Not being able to get up close on those Russian switches is a real bummer, and I haven't been able to get this to work. Addit: the trick to getting this to work is adding the relevant files to a new folder within Config called View. After copying and pasting the default_fighter_player method from the A-10 into a custom ViewSettings container, this is all working beautifully now. Nealius
Is this possible with the Su-25A? The entries for Su-25 and Su-25T do not include a 6DOF line, however the Su-25TM does. Changing the Su-25TM 6DOF limits does not change the Su-25A. The Su-25A entry.lua file also does not have a "make_view_setting" line either, but I tried creating a new view entry using "Su-25" with a 6DOF line. That failed to work as well. Rudel_chw
Is this possible with the Su-25A? The entries for Su-25 and Su-25T do not include a 6DOF line .. Yes, its possible ... this is the stock 6DOF movement: 23QTqCWszi8 I added this line on the "Su-25" section of my Saved Games Server.lua: ViewSettings["Su-25"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = default_fighter_player({CockpitLocalPoint = {3.352000,0.506000,0.000000}, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.050000,0.5000000},y ={-0.400000,0.120000},z = {-0.220000,0.220000},roll = 90.000000}}),-- player slot 1 }, -- Cockpit (just the limits_6DOF statement is needed). I tried to enhance the movement by adding a bit more crunch space and a little more of forward movement, the results are this: 1iqm5i9_ze4 Here is the whole "Su-25" section, in case you dont have any of it: ViewSettings["Su-25"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = default_fighter_player({CockpitLocalPoint = {3.352000,0.506000,0.000000}, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.050000,0.5000000},y ={-0.400000,0.120000},z = {-0.220000,0.220000},roll = 90.000000}}),-- player slot 1 }, -- Cockpit Chase = { LocalPoint = {-0.348000,2.906000,0.000000}, AnglesDefault = {180.000000,-8.000000}, }, -- Chase Arcade = { LocalPoint = {-16.648001,5.506000,0.000000}, AnglesDefault = {0.000000,-8.000000}, }, -- Arcade } Best regards For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600X - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia GTX1070ti - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar - Oculus Rift CV1 Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
