Recruitment for 494th is open

Hello!

I am happy to announce that the 132nd Virtual Wing will be opening for class 5 in the 494th flying the F/A-18C Hornet. For this new class we will only accept 2 new trainees. The class is so small because of the very limited IP availebility, and we are not able to get more pilots through the training.

Mandatory training flights

High level of the mandatory flights with an IP during IQT and MQT:

Flight 1: Basic flight with an IP: showing capability for precision flying and doing AAR.

Flight 2: 132nd Comms and ATC and airbase operations. Getting proficient handling comms with GND, TWR , Approach and AWACS.

Flight 3: Tactical formations and turns

Flight 4: 1vs1 WVR Basics

Flight 5: 2vs2 BVR Basics

Flight 6: SAT 1 Basics (Surface Attack Tactics)

Flight 7: MQT checkout. Combining what you have learned in a simulated combat mission to show proficiency as a wingman on 132nd events.

After IQT and MQT then pilots will move on to various topics in Continuation Training to gain additional proficiency. During all phases there is a heavy emphasis on self-qualification lessons, so new pilots will need to be able, diciplined and motivated to conduct training on their own to make sure to progress in accordance with the training program.

Criterias for selecting trainees

Because of it beeing such a small class of trainees, we are very selective on who we will choose to start up training. We have three criterias that is of outmost importance, which all will be taken into consideration when selecting

1. Activity. What are your activity levels, and are you planning to stay active

2. IP potential (Instructor Pilot). We are in high demand of IP's, and thus pilots that are skilled, and is interested in taking on the extra burden of teaching others will be prioritized-

3. Contributions to the squadron/wing. Running a wing and a squadron require a lot of work behind the scenes. Either through making missions, making briefs, maintaining a website, creating movies, creating documentation etc. Pilots that are interested in helping will be prioritized.

Questions for applicants

We have decided on the following questions, which I want applicants to be honest and give their best assessment of the following questions. This so we can select the best candidates to start training.

1. What is your current skill level in the F/A-18C?

2. What is your availebility to conduct trainings on Wednesdays and Sundays the next month (1800Z-2000Z?

3. What is your availebility to conduct trainings on other days than Wednesdays and Sundays to get a more rapid pace through the training program (Pending IP availebility)

4. How do you fit in in accordance with the 3 criterias of activity, IP potential and contributions to the wing/squadron?

5. Why should we pick you as one of next pilots in the class of 494th?

6. When are you availeble to start training?

7. Why do you want to join the 494th

8. What do you think about flying 6 training flights per each combat mission?

Answer your questions in a email , PM on ED forums or Discord to 132nd.Neck

The 132nd Virtual Wing is opening recruitment for dedicated A10-C pilots again. Although we train for and fly all mission profiles (AR, SCAR, etc), the focus of our A10 squadron is on Close Air Support featuring human JTACs.

(In addition to A10 pilots, we always have room for more JTACs, should you be interested in becoming a JTAC (no matter if you are experienced already or want to start from scratch), we would also be happy to have you on board!)

After completing your Mission Qualification Training (MQT), we offer CAS qualifications up to and including FAC(A)qualification.

If you want to be part of a tightly structured and friendly multiplayer environment that focuses on immersion, realism, and strategy, come and visit us.

Our Training days are Wednesdays at 1900z, and on Sundays we have either Training or Combat missions (completion of MQT is required to participate in our Combat Missions).

To see us in action, please check out our youtube channel; and give us a visit on our website, where you will find all info you need about the recruitment process.

We mainly fly on the Persian Gulf map.

Please note that a good level of English, and a proper microphone setup, are mandatory.

We looking forward to hearing from you!

wow, several years since the original posting, much has happened for the 132nd in the meantime. We now in addition to the Squadrons we started out with (ATC/AWACS/JTAC- sqd, Ka50-sqd and an A10-sqd), also sport Mi8s, Hornets, Vipers and Tomcats, each with their distinct set of Training Programs (IQT/MQT/CT) from basic flying up to Flight-Lead-Upgrade and FAC(A) qualifications.

What made me post here, on Dec. 21, 1970, the first Full Scale Development (FSD) Grumman F-14A Tomcat (BuNo 157980) took off for its maiden flight from Grumman’s flight test centre at Calverton.

That day, Grumman chief test pilot Robert K. Smyth and project test pilot William Miller decided to take off in spite of the bad weather: the poor wx (weather) conditions, however, forced the test pilots to cut the flight (consisting in a couple of visual patterns with the wings in the forward position) short.

Although the flight lasted less than initially planned, the first Tomcat took the air a month ahead of the contracted data and showed the great potential of the aircraft.

To celebrate this event, in honor of the well-loved F-14 Tomcat, we flew parade over the Al-Dhafra TMA, here are some screenshots.

Please go and check us out if you are interesting in driving this wonderful plane (or maybe you even are up to the challenge and dare join us as Radar Intercept Officer and control the package yourself), and if we are what you are looking for, drop us an application.

Please note, due to the high demand, applications for Ka50, F18, F16, and A10 are currently not being considered. You can check back on the recruitment page to see when they re-open for recruitment.
