Syria Development Report

In the coming Open Beta update, the DCS: Syria map size will increase eastward by 250 km to Deir ez-Zor airbase in Syria. A large section of the Euphrates River Valley in the eastern part of the map will be included, as well as parts of western Iraq to include H3, H3 Northwest, H3 Southwest and Ruwayshid airbases. You can also look forward to the Ataturk Dam and Şanlıurfa International Airport in Turkey.

Also be on the lookout for the abandoned dirt airfield east of Sayqal AirBase and Tal Siman military base located to the north of the city of Raqqa. The Kharab Ishk helicopter base, located on the territory of the Lafarge factory, At-Tanf military base on Syrian-Iraqi border, and the oil facilities in Deir ez-Zor area are also included.

The focus on the map update is to better support historic AH-64D missions during the war on ISIS.

This will be a free update to DCS: Syria

DCS: Syria update 2023

For a long time we did not get in touch, but all this time the work did not stop. Improving, optimizing, adding, introducing something new - everything we worked on was connected with these words. Today we will show new night lighting and some hangars.

The update includes many minor improvements - we made sure that the map is relevant and fresh.

So what's most interesting:

  • New lighting technology added.
  • Added right-hand traffic in Cyprus. Map description updated.
  • Added kneeboard (yeah, this fix has long been waiting in the wings)
  • Mission generator updated. Added helicopter landing sites on GUI map. Optimized trees in forest. Simplified trees collimages.
  • Optimized and improved building models. Added objects at road and railroad crossings.
  • Two types of gas stations have been added. Two types of road-side cafes added.
  • Improved cars. Added right-hand drive vehicles. Improved city and field assets. Improved road and railroad assemblies.

Non so voi, ma il sottoscritto è assolutamente innamorato di questa mappa. Davvero ben fatta. Per me, la migliore mappa in DCS.

Syria Development Progress

We are pleased to announce substantial improvements coming to DCS: Syria. Our partners Ugra-Media continue to develop and support the map and soon we will be releasing a huge update that will include new features, optimization, as well as improvements to the landscape and models.

The Syria map has been enhanced to maximise performance, while still striving to uphold an even greater level of detail. Notably, night time illumination has been enhanced throughout the map, rendering night flights even more captivating. Furthermore, we have diligently upgraded a significant portion of our cars fleet, implemented right-hand traffic on the island of Cyprus, updated the map's legend, and augmented damaged vehicle models.

A lot of work has been done to optimise the map, which provides an increase in FPS from 10-20%. Moreover, this update encompasses numerous minor refinements to heighten the realism and immersion. It is with great enthusiasm that we present this update in the next Open Beta update and kindly await your feedback.

Please remember that during the on-going DCS Summer Sale, you can benefit from a huge 30% discount on this map. With the imminent update, DCS: Syria at $41.99 USD is a steal. Hurry! This offer ends on the 16th of July at 23:59 GMT.

Ugra Media - DCS: Syria update 2023

The team is working on improvements to the map, but the more detail and uniqueness we add, the more effort it takes to optimize.
Hard work has been done on all areas of the map: models have been optimized, textures have been reassembled, vector data rendering on clipmaps has been updated - all this has had a positive effect!

We conducted tests on two systems: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x / RTX 2080Ti and i9-10850K / RTX 4080.
When flying over a city, FPS increased by an incredible 20% , and while on a system with a 2080ti the average FPS was at 85, now it confidently remains around 110. When flying over a forest, FPS increased from 5% to 20%  compared to the previous build. When testing the 2080ti system, the fps was always above 105.

One does not simply release an update with optimization. We have added 4 airfields:

  • Amman Civil Airport
  • Herzliya Airport (NOTAM: RWY LENGTH 1500M)
  • King Abdullah II Air Base
  • Prince Hussein Air Base

This will increase your flight geography and diversify your missions.

  • phant changed the title to DCS: Syria Map by Ugra Media

Simulatori: DCS A-10C II Warthog - DCS F/A-18C Hornet - DCS F-16C - VRS F/A-18E -
HOTAS: TM Warthog - Cougar \ HP Reverb G2 \ WinWing Panels

Tally: I see the degenerate commie who wants to ruin our day.

Syria Map Recent Updates

In case you missed it, Ugra Media's most recent updates to the DCS: Syria Map delivered optimized scenes and models by reducing the number of bushes, and textures while simplifying damages and car models. Ground textures saw a boost in frame rate performance due to updates to the ground vector data renderer.

Detailed enhancements cover the territories of southern Israel and Jordan, featuring additions like Amman, King Abdullah II, Prince Hassan, Muwaffaq Salti, and Herzliya airfields. Technical fixes addressed relays and ILS in Ramat David airfield, and errors in objects were also fixed. The adjustments to the sea depth near the shore and a tower frequency change at Wujah Al Hajar airfield improve realism, while Ein Shemer airfield benefits from a runway extension, and added parking lots at Ein Shemer, Megiddo, and Ramat David airfields.
