Airmage
Hi, got a question. I'm thinking about buying the Hornet, but given the fact that i got an old pc with 6gb DDR3 and a 2gb videocard i need to ask how much fps drop does this module bring. Will it be playable at: i7 920, 6gb DDR3 1333 MHz, ATI R9 270X 2gb GDDR5, HDD?
Revs
I'd say buy any module now, then it'll get you an excuse to upgrade your rig and when you do upgrade you'll know what specs to aim for. Also these modules don't really age anyways. Ryzen 1700 @ 3.8GHz / 32GB( 4x8 ) @ 3.2GHz / 1TB ADATA NVMe System Drive / 232GB NVMe Samsung 960 / ASUS dual RTX 2080ti / Reverb / Rift CV1 / T-16000M FCS flight pack A10C/M2000C/F5E/SA342/Mi8/UH1H/KA50/AJS-37/FA-18C/AV-8B/F-14/Mig29/CA/SU-
Repth
With those specs it will be a struggle for your rig Airmage. Here are the minimum requirements for 2.5 and the F-18C. Minimum system requirements (LOW graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel Core i3 at 2.8 GHz or AMD FX; RAM: 8 GB (16 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 60 GB; Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 / AMD R9 280X or better your CPU should be good (depending on the GHz and OC) but you will probably want to upgrade your RAM and GPU. and replace the HDD with a SSD. Will it be playable at: i7 920, 6gb DDR3 1333 MHz, ATI R9 270X 2gb GDDR5, HDD? Here are the specs for the sim, you are probably not going to be able to run it well, if at all. Minimum system requirements (LOW graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Intel Core i3 at 2.8 GHz or AMD FX; RAM: 8 GB (16 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 60 GB; Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 / AMD R9 280X or better; requires internet activation. Recommended system requirements (HIGH graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 56 with 8GB VRAM or better; Joystick; requires internet activation. Recommended VR systems requirements (VR graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation. (32 GB for heavy missions) Should say: 32GB Recommend not 16GB and (32GB for heavy missions) Its miss leading
Eldur
I'd jump on the train and say: You've got a CPU already. But you need to get RAM and a graphics card to be able to fly in DCS Hint: Even at the ultra lowest graphics setting, DCS 2.5 takes up ~3.2GB of VRAM. You don't want to have hardware which is below that. Try getting a kit of 16GB DDR3 and a 1060 6GB if you need to save money but want to take the Hornet for a ride soon. Otherwise, if you can afford a decent rig, go and build one, but wait a few days for the new cards to arrive.
HereThen
The game is free to try out before buying any module. Try if it works with the free version first and then have a second thought spending money on modules. macedk
What that system, I would say no. You won't get a nice platform, so u would just be teasing yourself until u get a better system :) OS: Win10 home 64bit*MB: Asus Strix Z270F/ CPU: Intel I7 7700k /Ram:32gb_ddr4 GFX: Nvidia Asus 1080 8Gb Mon: Asus vg2448qe 24" Disk: SSD Stick: TM Warthog #1400/Saitek pro pedals/TIR5/TM MFDs [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I would say the performance of Hornet is similar to A-10C or any other full-fidelity module (FC3 planes are less demanding).
draconus
Hint: Even at the ultra lowest graphics setting, DCS 2.5 takes up ~3.2GB of VRAM. No. It's highly dependant on the map, aircraft, mission and settings. I can get as low as 1,5GB. Airmage
I got Mi-8, UH-1, Ka-50, FC3, P-51, MiG-21, F-5, M-2000, CA. Before DCS 2 game used to run fine but in the last 2-3 years it became unplayable for me. I played the game since the beginning but now it takes a serious budget if i want to get back to multiplayer. The question was if my CPU can still hold it or not, as a compromise to upgrade only memory and videocard instead of a totally new rig.
Airmage
At this moment i can play Nevada map in singleplayer but not Caucasus where it's full of objects.

As was already said your current CPU is the best part of your rig so it can hold it's own for a while but it will not set you up for a high-end rig (there are faster Pentiums these days). The worst part is the RAM amount. Get at least 12GB for decent multiplayer. Then videocard if you care about looks and not getting fps enough. SSD is also great especially when low on RAM.
