VAICOM PRO plugin for VoiceAttack

Guys,

How do I reset and Re-install VAICOM Pro? I tried to use and merge with another profile and ended up messing Vaicom Pro completely.

I ran again with debug enabled in case there's anything interesting in the logs, but it doesn't appear so. You can see that the commands are recognized but don't go through (and the other commands "wake up" and radar hot/cold are recognized and accepted).

I would delete it out of the Apps folder in VoiceAttack directory. Then reinstall from fresh DL.

I have the same problem. The only recognized command is "Tacan tune".- It shows me the options. Radio tune and Link tune both with correct numbers and recognized from VA correctly, are "Unrecognized" commands. Like I would say "build me a house".

From the log it appears you may be releasing the PTT key too soon.

Hold until the command is fully executed.

@Matchstick Interesting, never seen that one before. Suggest to try reset you keywords database with the Reset tab and carefully inspect all your VA options such as Unrecognized Speech Delay etcetera.

Cheers for the pointer on that one - ended up competely wiping and reinstalling both VA and Vaicom (once I'd worked out where my license keys were) and it all seems to be working much nicer than before - some problems with the AIRIO commands just not being recognised but that's going to be user error somewhere so I'll do some digging later.

Doesn't appear to be the case, the command is getting recognized but it reports "not available" in the log (and there is no response at all in DCS) regardless of how long I depress the PTT.

@ GhostDad Well that's funny then, 'AIRIO commands are not available' points specifically to one of the following:

- AIRIO dll not loaded, AIRIO license not activated or AIRIO not enabled (check EX tab, About tab),

- Not in an F-14 mission or F-14 module not recognized (check PTT tab).

@Birdman81 Can't reproduce. Check if your mic (headset) icon in VA shows an inhibit sign when speaking with PTT pressed.

Right, which is confusing because all the other AIRIO commands are recognized and work fine. It's just these additional ones that don't work (even in the same mission when everything else is working, so it shouldn't be any issue with the dll loading, license activation, or mission/module recognition).

Ok, I'll run through these in order.

-Was using SNGL, but I tried all other modes, no joy.

-ICS HOT MIC does not appear to do anything for me (on or off doesn't make a difference, I have to use PTT to talk to Jester). In any case, having it off or on did not change the behaviour.

-Easy Comms was on before, but turning it off does not seem to have made a difference.

-This is openbeta standalone.

-AIRIO license is listed and appears valid on the About page.

-Auto-import was enabled when I installed F-14.

-After reset Keywords and Settings, HOT MIC starts working but no joy on the manual tune commands.

Now I've got Vaicom Pro working successfully (and even as a lightweight simmer it's quite stunning in use) I do have question about what actually happens with the "Select Tunes Radio" option.

I'm wondering what this actually does behind the scenes in the cockpit - is it smart enough to use pre-set frequencies if one is set for recipient ? Does it set the manual tune ? Or does it use an API to set the radio frequency variable without reference to the actual aircraft settings.

I ask as I'm looking to graduate to the M2000C campaign where I'm informed that managing the radios is of high importance and I'm wondering if the "Select Tunes Radio" option has the potential to complicate matters.

So.. what is going on here.

I had vaicom working fine, before setting up a new computer.

I reinstalled everything- got AIRIO- Imported the commands.

I mapped 3 buttons (up for TX1, down for TX2, and forward for intertcom TX5)

I downloaded all updates and generally seem to be good. I start up and it looks good like this.

This is how I mapped things for the PTT

But pressing the PTT buttons (all 3, gives me a "ploink-ploink" sound and and error, which terminates VAICOM (Not even able to enter the Plugin config after).

@GhostDad Running Chatter? Curious to hear if (un)installing chatter dll makes a difference.

@Matchstick Select Tunes Radio is for Easy Comms off. Best to just test with it to see how it works.

If you select a specific recipient unit ("Anvil,... Select) the system tunes the radio device corresponding to the TX/PTT key used.

Frequency and modulation data for all mission units is read directly from DCS by the plugin.

@zionid Update your VA to current version 1.7.5.

Spent some time settings things up but could not get it to work. Will go though the whole thing from the beginning before I start asking more questions here- however- is it correct that Vaicom cancels out the RIO menu even when not loaded/running after installed? Closed down VA, fired up DCS to find I was no longer able to get the Jester wheel working. Would be nice to have it functional until I can set this thing up good and proper.

Same problem here with the same exception (VoiceAttackInvokeProxyClass does not contain a definition for Utility) every time a voice command is given (like in his log).

Chatter is OFF. I've tried manually downloading the vaicom dll file and copying it to the VA App folder, didn't help.

I guess I'm not trying out that user made campaign tonight.

You can run VAICOM without disabling the Jester wheel, as long as you don't enable the AIRIO plugin.

Ok- more testing: Here is where I am at.

Got things set up and working on the Hornet- however, when in the F-14, I can see that VA recognices my command and that I am transmitting on the right freq.

FOr instance, when I say "Set scan 200", I can see in VA that that the command is recocnized, that the RIO is the reciepient and that I am transmitting on the intercom.

However- I get no reply from Jester, no matter what I do. I have imported the commands for AIRIO into VAICOM pro. I have AIRIO enabled, with "show messages". But my commands don't generate a response.

Same problem here with the same exception (VoiceAttackInvokeProxyClass does not contain a definition for Utility).

 

I guess I'm not trying out that user made campaign tonight.

@zionid 'Set scan 200' is not a command, e.g. 'Scan Range 200' is. Check the reference tables.

Thought of checking the VA updates, but wrongly presumed it has some self-check for updates like its profiles do. Edit: Apparently, it does, but it's not turned on by default. I was on 1.7.3.

OK it can't be reproduced here, all working fine.

Tested with SRS mode on/off, Easy Comms on/off SNGL/MULTI and various other settings, all looking normal.

Assuming you're using correct TX keys, Select to tune recipient etc. we'll need some specific clues, like are there any standout messages in the VA log window or dcs.log.

Is the VA headset showing mic mute when you transmit.

In DCS are all sliders set at 50%, are your Audio Redirect setting Off/Default.

EDIT: One option you can try in any case is delete the Config subfolder and restart VA.

In the jet, there is no option for a radio with hot mic, only for intercom. Even though VA recognizes it, the game didn't, since the radio was never keyed in the jet.
