You fly F-15E's? Lucky, they are pretty cool aircraft but I'd prefer another chopper.

This is the next DCS simulator, to say nothing more.

F/A-18 Superhornet:

+ Like the F-16, it's a versatile multi-role airframe.

+ Naval / carrier ops.

- Rather small payload and fuel capability.

What about A-10A? It's easy to scale down from A-10C since all systems are the same and big part of the avionics are shared (TISL, HARS...) New CDU and IFFCC would be required though. Maybe as a low-cost patch? It'd be nice for recreating past conflicts.

I wouldn't buy it though as much as I would like to support ED.

ED has a thousand choices to choose from but only a handful (considering having access to all systems) can be DCS.

No, not a pilot, but I'm an avionics maintenance specialist. Everything from AAI to the VVI we have to know how to sit in the seat and operate. The only electronic gizmo we don't really do anything with is the PACS (basically the F-15E's DSMS).

From a maintenance standpoint I absolutely hate the aircraft. It's extremely unreliable and completely unfriendly to work on, and the MSIP upgrades are accomplished by civilians that suck at their jobs and make ours worse by, say, mispinning a SATCOM radio that brings the entire MUX offline...

But as much as I'll badmouth the airframe, it's still one of the most impressive aircraft ever made.

Truthfully I really don't want the F/A-18 because I think it's ugly as sin.

That threat englobe all European and other system no present on DCS series, updated or need update. That list has a reference for modders and for additional system with you like see of them.

- Small payload, IIRC cannot even carry JDAMs.

- Tends to forget to stay in the air, flips over, blows up, catches everything on fire, and makes even the Osprey look safe.

- Sub-mach top speed.

Longbow - not in this lifetime..

Yeah, modern fighter aircraft tend to be a bit harder to model because of limited unclassified documentation.

I've got a wish list (doesnt everyone) for the next installments, here is my 2c. I've also added a few things that I want to make sure are not removed in future versions.

Should keep DCS busy for about 10 years!

dynamic campaign similiar to Flc 4

automated/improved JTAC editing in mission builder

ReDo IL2 COD with DCS treatment (!) - yes I'm bitter

Must keep:

random mission generator

excellent mission builder

after battle log (makes a great read)

avionics/integrated systems level of detail (most people that play DCS, play for this)

excellent interactive tutorials as in A10 (much better than black shark)

Pilots Log/ medals/ etc

sound treatment (buzzes, whines, bleeps, etc)

control config setup

Just another unrelated question for the more knowledgable in here... why have they never configured HARM missiles to work with the A-10?

What's with everyone wanting a Phantom?

My real wish for DCS is to have the terrain and ground bits updated to be prettier. Textured kilometer-square blocks feels dated :P Imagine ArmA2's terrain, but developed by Crytek :)

Crytek's graphics tend to look really crappy at high altitudes. Aside from that, yes the graphics of CE3 would be amazing.

I just wish they would tell us already, or at least drop a hint about when they are planning to announce what's next, just so I could stop checking 10 times a day. Hey!...I gots to know.

Personally I like the F16. It can do everything and it seems like a lot of fun to fly. There is a reason why it has been done so many times before. Even though there has been F4. That was a long time ago and adding the F16 into this sim line would be amazing.

I have to admit that I like the Tornado as well but it is really limited and just doesn't fly like a F16. Which is also a reason why I am not a big fan of the F18. The F16 is just so much fun to fly around. All this is of course based on many many rears of flying sims ... not for real.

Though I am currently in Afghanistan and I see them every day here at Kandahar Air Field. The F16s seem to have a lot of fun around here ... they are the ones who pull the most stunts and show off! And they just have that look about them.

Anyway, I can't wait to go back home and get going on the A10. I already bought it and it is downloaded - I just can't play it here on my laptop :( Gonna have to wait until November.

Voted for the F-18, but would love to see the RAH-66 Comanche.

If the F16 was so great the indians would have taken the deal the US was giving them on them. No, they wanted something better. Euro fighter is getting the nod over the inferior F16. not sure why the US could not have sold the F22 with downgraded avionics and engines or something. Who needs 11 billion dollars to stimulate the economy though.

Because to downgrade the F-22 enough so they could have sold it without compromise would have essentially forced them to develop a new airframe.

The harrier's getting retired from service. Stupid move. Plenty of aircraft carriers with no aircraft on.
