firmek
I know that in theory more RAM is always better but how does it look in reality for DCS. Anyone with a practical observations after extending RAM from 16GB to 32GB ? Does it improve experience in DCS in some noticeable way? SkateZilla
Likely better performance in bigger missions as the ram wont fill up as quick and have to spool to the page file on the HDD. Bewsher
Using 32 gigs DD4 without pagefile on and it feels faster. Pagefile on its about the same feel with 16gigs. I do know the risks but with a 950 SSD its better.
cichlidfan
I have no empirical data but, given the current cost of memory, I would grab as much as I could fit in my budget. I have 16GB in an ASUS ROG laptop, that I rarely game on, but it is great to have the headroom to allow for anything you might want to do. My sim rig has 32GB and the few times I captured statistics indicated that it was never close to 50% usage. However, next year that might come out quite different. In short, you might not ever notice the difference, right now. A year from now, might be completely different story. BitMaster
Same here, ROG Laptop G73 16GB DDR3, MacBookPro 15" 16GB DDR3, game rig 32GB DDR4 the trend is towards 16GB for home use and 32GB seems to be the new goal for enthusiasts. 2x16GB was my choice...you never know if 64 is needed ;) *what use are 32GB modules IF YOU STILL WAIT FOR THE MOBO !!??" firmek
Thank you All for replies. I guess I'll grab another 16 GB. Maybe it'll come handy for 2.5. 1 F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. mj3437
Are you all on Win 10? I just discovered that Win7 Home Premium only supports 16Gb. cichlidfan
Yes, Win 10 here, on every machine. EDIT: I actually resisted the upgrade on most of my machines until I realized how much smoother the networking options were. A ,mostly, homogeneous network is so much easier to deal with. My servers run a Linux variant, so there is always that. Otherwise, Win 10 everywhere. EDIT2: I agree with Bit about the 2x16 approach. I actually had no choice since my Noctua cooler made two of the slots useless unless I hunted up some low profile memory which would have left the memory with no cooling radiators, which are essential, in my mind, when the memory is almost complete out of the air path. cichlidfan
I think the OEM disk contains both. I will not swear to this since I can't recall the last time I installed a 32bit OS. The windows 7 had both 32 and 64 but 10 just has the version you choose. I know im the same on the 32 bit era. Long gone now.

BitMaster
Oem stays oem and you can choose n move the license around PCs. For this to work properly you have to TIE your win10install/lic to your hotmail account. To do this, change log in options to use your ms account, thats all. If you then reinstall you can log into hotmail and manage which lic is used on which PC. You can run into issues upon hw change if you dont do this I have lile 7 copies of 10pro64/32 that i use across machines, real an vmware. Using ms account lets me manage them easily Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Asus 1080ti EK-waterblock - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus PG278Q 27" QHD Gsync 144Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
BitMaster
You can revert to trivial login after hooking it to your ms account a day later. You dont have to have it permanently set to login using ms account btw Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Asus 1080ti EK-waterblock - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus PG278Q 27" QHD Gsync 144Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
