DCS Update Patch Notes Discussion Thread

Nobody 'deserves' anything in a Beta.

It's for the Developers 'Beta' Tests.

The Devs should do what they want. Period.

Correct...all should work just fine in the stable version...by now!... as plenty of time was available to put things right!

The point is moot. ED is not releasing the patch until the 3rd Party has completed their works to enable integration of their module.

That's not what they said. They said they would give the 3rd party another few days, and if it still wasn't fixed then they will release the patch next week regardless.

The update could have been released yesterday without that third party module, and include it the next week update.

Then you would delay the arrival of that module to the Stable branch, since you can't test it on the Beta.

I'm very eager to test the VR Improvements, but it's ED who knows better when to release a version.

What are you talking about? The module in question already works in the stable version!

Is a nonsense. A openbeta this week without a third party module and another openbeta with that third party module next week is better than no openbeta this week. Nobody is hurt because the ones willing to play with that module are not receiving it for the beta until the next week so..

Anyways and as somebody has said before.. anyone deserve anything and ED is going to do whatever they want so..

I don't bother much with the usual updates, but 2.5.5 is the VR improvement patch and we have been waiting for this forever!

Wags never said it will be in this week's update. He said they will be merging the VR improvements in the 2.5.5 build. So hopefully with this delay, enough testing has been done to include it in next week's update.

+1. Having two versions installed is becoming useless.

It has been ever since for those who know how to use the updater.

By the way, we definately won't get an update this week according to Wags. But I for one didn't know they'd pushed it to next week, this is the very first instance of where I read this.

Just a little thought though... if the "3rd party needs time" delay would be because of the VR improvements and ED had been telling us they did their improvements by changing things on the maps...

It must be Ugra Media rdlaugh.png

This will be a big update then, so let's look forward to it twilightsmile.png

I am looking forward to the update video over the weekend from Matt.

I do have a thought about the systems and armament for the F-18 module.

Where are we as far as completion of the systems? What remains to be done?

other than A2G radar and HARPOON missile? Can Matt or anyone update on

the F-18 road map?

He means that if a module is missing from the OB, then it can't be tested. So that 3rd party mod will be delayed getting into the GA release.

If it means we don't get stupid bugs we usually do when ED and third party devs rush their updates without testing, then I don't mind waiting, honestly.

I mean, this is a Beta! Some people just forget this once and a while. This is supposed to be a constantly patched build with upgrades and corrections.

What I don't like is the lack of communication when something is done and/or messed up. ED needs to improve the way they communicate with the users. That's all I think needs some work. We are all waiting patiently and deserve some regular intel. Like Mr. Wagner does with the Hornet from time to time. Only... DCS is not just about the Hornet...

More than any other thing that pertains to the body it partakes of the nature of the divine." — Plato, Phaedrus.

From Weekend News:

DCS World Open Beta Update

Due to a third-party module not being quite ready in time to make the Open Beta 2.5.5 release this week, we have to push 2.5.5 to next Wednesday, 5 June. We apologize for the delay. We hope you will enjoy the Open Beta update that will include VR optimization for the Caucasus and Persian Gulf maps, as well as AGM-154 JSOW for the Hornet.

Now that is conclusive!

Take a look here (https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3285514&postcount=13) and cross of what we have. The remaining things are left to be done, weapons wise. In terms of avionics, go into the cockpit and check out all DDI pages.

We have been saying since the issue arose what was going on. Since the day the patch should have dropped.

Yes, NL, but there wasn't a break down of the teams bath room break schedule or whether or not Kiril should have worked 5 minutes extra since he spent that time over his lunch hour cleaning the spilt mayo that leaked out of his sub roll off his shirt.

We need to know these things.

You need an NDA to know ED's bathroom break schedules, sorry ;)

This is very true. For some reason I keep ignoring the fact we have 2 versions out there. Each with it's own purpose. With times like these, unless I am missing something, is good for this particular purpose. Test for the unknown with knowing there are some things still in WIP. If the OB was to come incomplete I could accept the disabled module. Another week wont bother me either. I have a working F-18 that I am still enjoying! :)

In a perfect world that would make sense, update without the missing module and they catch up later, but with DCS, many popular servers like to run Open Beta, so we try and keep that in mind, and not disable a bunch of people. Obviously, if it's not resolved, we will have to move forward, but we feel its in the best interest of everyone to give them more time.

Back in the day my first experiences being a beta tester with ED started out with the Ka-50 (circa 2006/2007 when Han was still at ED and I was in the 169th) it was the first true 6 DOF pit and helo that was produced by them, so much nostalgia :)

To this day the Ka-50 holds alot in my heart, looking forward to seeing it going to the next level

I can respect the decision. We only have a couple more days before it drops and things are busy on my end to where I have not been able to play over the weekend anyways and summertime activities with family and friends. This week should be better for time to get back into DCS. :)
