3rd Party WWII content?

hurry that new scenery up ! behind all these comments people are a bit tired of the scenery we presently fly in and are subconsciously demonstrating that.

 

 

Got to agree with that part of your statement. I played this map back in the days of Flanker 2.0 and it was great for the first few hours but..... it gets old real quick. I like a little more variety in maps and new places to visit/plan missions for like in the user made maps of IL2 etc.

 

Please, please, please ED, give us a Channel map with parts of Europe other than the Balkans or whatever. Cheers.

I might add that while the cockpits and aircraft look gorgeous, and I love how detailed the airports are, the landscape/sky/weather/water graphics do look a bit tired in comparison with other games/simulations.

Bits and pieces here and there, you could try searching, I think all new Nevada screenshots are using EDGE.

 

Not all. Users will find SS of the Nevada terrain from the early A-10C beta days when we had access to it prior to being removed and rebuilt with the Edge engine.

 

If it's an official ED SS, then it most likely is using Edge.

I don't understand the logic. If you don't mind paying for *such extra content*, then why won't you pay for the Mustang, as I would presume that the development of further content depends largely on profitability indicators from P51 sales (among others). It seems such a pointless argument IMO.

Honestly there is very little chance I can resist getting P-51 and if voting with my dollars helps the WWII content cause, so much the better. Let's hope for a DCS WWII World!

 

There just seems to me, a quite mistaken belief out there in the game world, that WWII games are somehow out of fashion or a tired genre. And yet I can count only perhaps 3 good current WWII shooters and not one good current well done WWII flight sim.

my start, ill be having my own ww2 world to fly in soon. the scenery project is top secret for now. but this would fit in just nicely at the location.( i think) Era wise i might be a bit out, not sure. going to go with it for now.

that would be coercing a time period to a freely open combat simulator. Add-on, or no add-ons, I highly suspect we'll tolerate fighting a stock P-51D (AI or not) on the long run. I mean it has been fun, but, lets not get carried away. We do need 3rd party aircrafts. Yo-Yo is doing some work from his post. In the mean time, let's put a stang on F-15's and see what happens :D

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Q: if they are not a deterent and are used as a weapon (some carried an explosive system)- then they were designed so as not to be seen by pilots ?

 

their distinctive silvery colour could lead me to understand that it was maybe a form of camoflage. so what circumstance should i design this baloon upon ? its an aesthetic mod for now. no explosives untill i learn how. maybe. creating a trapped cable animation is out of the question.

As collision was one of the desired effects I would assume making them hard to see was the intended reasoning behind the color, Collision with the cables was part of it as well, isnt it possible to collide with power lines right now? Maybe you can look at those and see if you can adjust accordingly?

indeed, collision is no prob, the effects or dynmaics (realistic) im not convinced of being too possible without some fudging.

Probably not, the give of the cables and balloon under collision... not to mention the cable cutters the axis installed on their planes ;)

i can only really consider the fundamental.

 

one covers something they dont want attacked with barrage baloons. its a active deterent(as opposed to passive). easiest way to produce dynamics is to kill the part of the plane that flies into any part of the baloon. thats the way it`ll end up. untill one builds a barrage baloon cable simulator explicitly. also i may build it with transparent lods in mind if thats possible. to create the un easy aspect of attacking a field your not sure has or has not baloons (if they were designed to be camoflaged) actually i realise ive only considered the horizontal viewing aspect of that. but these did fly pretty high, upto 1500 metres i hear.

 

i believe my baloon in the design is a more american and possibly(¿?) pacific based baloon. :) its semi metallic in appearance
