Closer ? How much closer you want when half of the time people fight over Anapa or Novo already ?

GiJmVi.png

This server is one huge furball without logic or sense.

If anything I'd vote for further apart and with more targets spread around, to actually make it at least partially realisitc. But in any case, clouds are at times affecting my performance and causing FPS drops. If it was possible to tune them down a bit, I think that would help.

Building on that^, I would like to see a more realistically theater of war set up. A small patch of ground units on the ground doesn't feel like I'm helping to stop an army on the ground. I'm thinking convoys and landings and bomber intercept missions and defended positions on the ground. Something that makes if feel more...warish. Also the ability to change liveries

@hiromachi

there are some loners flying over the enemy airfields because they cant find targets and head there way and check if theres someone finally takin off... its just not interesting when theres a lower player count and everybody is scattered all over the battlefield. tho in many occasions there is someone around the ships area, concentration on a tad smaller frontline would be even better.

i mean if your at the ocean and get a radio message that theres someone in DK 9 for example its a long ass flight and untill your there youll be alone and the transfer being obsolete. the airport seperation is fine but the frontline is too long in my opinion.

making the battlefield even larger is hilarious!

also the setup as mentioned above could get a retouch too.

Loners ? Dude, literally at the hours I fly there are constant dogfights exploding over ships and Anapa city and in either case its fueled by folks taking off from nearest airbase which is like a couple miles away.

You cant fix low numbers. Not that way. But you can mess greater numbers (20+) big time. And I've been seeing 20+ flying on Friday and weekends. For me entire mission is already claustrophobic and designed to appeal to scoreboard fighters, without any history or realism taken into consideration. I'm not sure why people choose to fly game that aims to be the most realistic product in the market in least realistic scenarios, where entire mission is reduced to a mere arena like in Wt, WoWP or older games.

One of the aspect of a flight sym is to simulate reality... Airfield too close, no units on ground, no a general aim to conquer the enemy territory instead of simply killing aircraft... All this must be accounted for me... In our internal unit's server I love taking off and made a 2h trip to escort firends in a bombing mission for example... The dogfight to defend them sometime happen, sometime not... Is the "reality" of war... So i hope that mission's makers start working more on realism and less in arena style servers... There are tons of arena servers, very few historycal servers...

Forgive my English....

With loners i mean people flying up or down the coast finding nobody until they get to the enemy airfield, nothing to do with the furballs.

the other target zones are pretty much deserted cause less people fly there maybe because its too far away. everything is happening at the coastal line. burning skies is more of a dogfight server if u ask me anyway...

i personally like teamwork and "realistic missions" to some extend (not interested in two hour flights to get shot down and do it all again just for the giggles) but there for i prefer Blue Flag Normandy Server. u have to take airfields, cities, cover the transport flights etc and communicate with the team over srs.

edit: weekend is a different story...

Dear Mr. eekz I followed the Russian Thread a little bit about the labels, for best Spotting you have to fly with the creepiest Monitor in Resolution 1980x1080 for the biggest possible Pixel on your Monitor with Antialiasing deactivated..

That can not be seen in any Statistic what player are using witch Hardware..

For equal Opportunity the labels was perfect, doesn't matter did you fly with VR or shit Monitor you can spot things...

Now its for me fishing in Dark, the Planes are jumping so hard between LOD's around the Skyline and Ground you are unable to follow because things what you have insight are vanished from one Moment to the Other...

Since the Labels deactivated all people are flying at Ground altitude to spot anything that doesn't tell you the statistic, because you don't see anything with VR or higher Monitor resolution that's below you or above you...

Flying then Fw-190 for example is then pain, because turn fight with Spitfire is not your best solution...

Before the Labels are accidently disabled by ED, I see no discussion to turn of this thing anywhere?

Yes and no. It doesn't really depend on one "magic" resolution. For example, switching to 1440p and putting AA to 4x or 8x made it significantly easier to spot things for me due to the reduction of "shimmer". In certain conditions aircraft are even visible well past 60nm. Spotting isn't consistent between hardware, settings, or resolutions. LODs have issues at times, but for aircraft they've been pretty consistent for me at least.

As for the rest of this stuff, I've mostly stopped playing on Burning Skies as it just isn't as enjoyable now that it's left Normandy and the asset pack in the dust. It's really just focused on air combat now in a way that seems relatively aimless. I was waiting for it to return, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen any time soon...

blue flag normandy has the problem that you are stuck to blue or red. if there are three reds and no blue i would take a blue slot but we alreqdy chose a side. very hard to populate this server with such a small player base.

Had an issue on BS today. Got the “Attention, enemy over ZQ65” callout when nobody (except me) was around. I saw green tracers from a distance, but the plane seemed to vanish, and there was no activity at TA 3 after that. There were only two reds online, and shortly after there was a callout for DK06 and DK18. And then there was a constant drone of ZQ65 callouts (and occasional DK18 callouts, a 190 with a Russian name was hitting TA 1 pretty hard), and there wasn't an enemy plane anywhere nearby. It would be impossible for two players to be in three places at once.

Not sure if there's anything that can be done to fix that, just putting it out there.

no to sth totally diffdrent ^^ ... do we get a new mission today with the Focke Wulf 190 A-8 ?

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

There are two types of fighter pilots - those who have, and those who will execute a magnificent break turn towards a bug on the canopy . . . .

It'll be new mission soon along with updated current one.
Please also add the ability to change liveries. If you could say something on this, I'd appreciate it greatly.

is there any possibility of changing the liveries to be less ambiguous?

ambiguous spotting is part of realism, but most people would probably agree with me that the total inability to see color until you are at spitting distance isn't realistic.

the P-51 russian (red star) scheme looks basically identical to the luftwaffe schemes, and some of the 109/190 schemes also have golden noses like some of the P-51s. Also, the mottled green of the spit looks identical to the luftwaffe schemes as well.

it makes any sort of "attack from above" strategy really difficult as you will not be able to IFF until you are at spitting distance. granted, this isn't really mostly your fault, but still it might help.

Sorry to say that, but fixed liveries are intended in order to avoid non-existent and duel liveries.
Hmm.

Well, what's the harm in it? If someone is using a usermade livery (like me and my friend want to do, because we want to feel all special lol), it defaults to the Desert Rat livery.

Duel liveries...if each plane has a different bort number then there will be no misidentification. I do wonder though, if I use a custom livery that you can't see, and on your client it looks like the desert rat, if it will have a different bort number than any other desert rat livery.

Honestly, I personally don't see the harm in it

Your server though.
