You can't liberate a country that doesn't want to be liberated. Most of S. Vietnam wanted to be under N. Vietnamese rule and that's why it was a non-starter.

The Khmer Rouge were exactly what the Vietcong deserved and eventually got. If ever 2 para-military organisations deserved each other, it was those two.

and what has this to do with the effectiveness and tactical choice of pipe-bombs???

Just tried the same scenario with 1.2.2 and the result is similar.

I had 4 Elite M1A1's destroyed before the single Elite T-80 was destroyed, however in the track briefing, in this new version it seems BOTH the T-80 and the M1A1's are now firing HE, only when the T-80 stops to fire the ATGM is where it makes progress.

I wish the AI would have better targeting and ammo selection on both sides of the fence, because it would greatly add to the tactics when I'm using CA to position my units to attack the enemy. I shouldn't be afraid to have 4 M1's flank 3 T80's on the sides or behind at over 2km range. In that situation the T-80's seem to just turn around and destroy the M1's.

I already experimented to take control of the T-72B and I had M-1's firing on me from long range with HEAT rounds. Not being a specialist, HEAT projectiles can be fired with more loft trajectories while sabots need kinetic energy to be effective, so the less employment range.

The Svir and Refleks missiles are deadly from 5000-4000m, at a stationary target (and without rangefinder/fire computer and stabilized turrets, the only human employable weapon against armor from distance until now).

Thanks for that info Xpto.

Because of how the AI can sort of cheat on lines of sight through forests and such, I'm not very interested in piloting the vehicles at the moment, but it would be nice to have the AI be able to select the correct ammo and engage the targets correctly when I tell the units where to go. Even using HEAT at shorter ranges is incorrect against a tank, the T-80 as well as the M1 are pretty optimized against these types of projectiles.

DCS may be a flight simulator at first, it also had a huge potential as a ground unit simulator. I really hope ED will develop that side, i would gladly pay for a CA2.

AT least i'm sure that with tanks, i'm not crashing everywhere :)

It doesn't just have the potential to be a ground unit simulator. It could be an entire war simulator. Just add ship controls and spy satellites and ICBM's and add arma 2 like stuff.

That is the problem:

- No crew commander orders (tank with sabot, IFV/APC with HE, inf with MGs)

- No realistic armour and penetration.

- No realistic firing computer

- No realistic sight distance

- No realistic AI tank engagement

- No realistic coordinate firing (all tanks firing some target waste ammunition)

and a long issues.
