AJS-37 Viggen missions

Recommended Posts

Name: Defend Airbase AJS-37 Winter

Version: v0.61

Author: TOViper

Mission type: SP only

Controllable: AJS-37

Quick Summary (5 lines):

Against the original idea for this aircraft (plan long time ahead, fly low and fast, attack and evade), this mission requests the pilot to quickly react on engaging ground forces.

The mission is to commence seek & destroy on artillery units, that are threatening the own airfield in Georgia.

It requires the pilot to quickly bring online the avionic-, navigation and weapon system and perform a quick take-off.

Furthermore it requires him to use radar search and the use of Rb75 missiles. Anyway, the pilot may choose a different loadout before engine start, depending on his personal skills.

A very detailed briefing is available, in order to make the pilot feel linked with the situation he is facing.

Full brief/Discussion thread:

Since the briefing is really extensive, here you find the first part, which covers the actual situation roughly.

SITUATION:

In an act of violence, believed pro Russian forces took over control of the most western part of neighbor state Azerbaijan. Under the command of believed former Russian ex-commanders the forces placed several air defenses and related support along the Georgian-Azerbaijanian border.

Georgian forces reacted quickly, but actually concentrate their ground forces around Kutaisi and east of Kutaisi. They came to full stop in order not to provoke any military intervention of „official" Russian forces.

Bilateral agreements of Germany, Switzerland and Sweden with Georgia allow their forces using the airfield of Tbilisi-Lochini for a short period of time with the mission to evacuate civilians, which started two days ago.

Many tourists, diplomats, NGO's and two high rank military persons left the town of Tbilisi and arrived on this airfield. They are waiting for their evacuation within the next hours.

The eastern part of the city of Tbilisi seems pro Russian oriented, both in a political and also in an ideological sense. This place could easily change to a high-risk zone very soon, and thus all units and civil persons are planned to leave latest tomorrow morning 06:00.

Our two Viggen landed unintentionally here yesterday evening, the „21“ had a bird strike during a recon flight near the border. Quickly UH-1 helicopters transported a support crew and material from Kutaisi over here in the late evening, in order to repair the damaged aircraft ...

Please load the mission in order to read the full briefing, thanks!

Author/Misc info:

This is my first try in mission building for DCS.

I am using Abkhazia, Insurgents, Russia for RED, and Georgia, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland as coaltion BLUE.

Note: The information given in the briefing is imaginary. The story might reflect actual happenings, but this might be coincidental and is unintentional.

I don't have any special info on this mission, I hope that the briefing - and finally the mission itself - is good enough for you guys out there.

:smilewink:

A request for creating a sticky thread was sent by me to Groove but still wasn't read so far, thus may I kindly ask a moderator to make this one sticky. Thanks!

Edit note: if you experience problems with the mission, or wanna give any feedback, please open up a separate topic, I will then link this new topic to this one and vice versa. THANKS!

From one Viper to another, thanks for sharing! :)

I really pray to god it works on other machines as well.

Furthermore, I was wondering no thread for Viggen missions existed so far ...

Hm ... I think the Viggen drivers are reading books, and learning, and reading books, and reading books again ... :book: ... instead of building missions ... hahahaaaa :P

To be honest: this aircraft is a weapon, and I think it likes to be handled with good knowledge, care, love, and absolut dedication.

Am i wrong? :music_whistling:

I hope that we will have more and more missions for THE BEST AIRCRAFT in DCS. Ok, I will accept other opinions, since I only own FC3, the HAWK and ... my love

Thanks, I downloaded it and will give it a try tonight :)

Its true that there are very few missions for the Viggen yet, but since I'm still learning the aircraft systems and weapons I havent really noticed it ... most of the missions that I've seen are of the training type, like this:

... plus the five missions of the Mini Campaign.

May I suggest that you upload your mission to the Files section of ED's site? it will increase its visibility.

Thanks again for sharing :D

  • 4 years later...

Greetings,

Made a mission with performance and high replay value in mind, since i mainly fly VR and SP myself. Difficulty is challenging, but mainly because of enemy units view/visibility setttings. If you encounter bugs or have ideas for improvements or new missions, feel free to comment.

This Mission is "dynamic", meaning enemies and allies (CAP or AAA/SAM) can vary, giving an always changing environment with every new start. You start the mission on Kobuletti airfield from your aircraft. You will get 1 of 12 possible missions (see list bellow) randomly at the begining of your sortie.
You select your loadout via ground crew, plan waypoints and approaches via F10 map and the provided detailed recon photographs in the mission briefing.
You can land at any allied Airfield for rearming and refueling if needed. Returning to your parking position at Kobuletti Airfield ends your sortie. There are 2 allied F-5 on CAP and allied AAA / SAM units at the Georgian - Russian border (in case you get chased home).

Enemy AAA/SAM units are spread across the russian territory, best defence is a good flight plan and to stay low and fast on deep strike missions.

February 1992: After months of tension between Russia and Georgia the UN send international forces into the region to observe and hopefully stabilize the situation.
Sweden deployed one sqadron of Viggens into the region. Today Russian cruise missles destroyed Senaki Kolkhi airfield and infrastructure on the georgian border and coast.
Given the troop formations that were reported, command expects an invasion within the next 24 hours.
You are put on high alert to counter any move by the russians and buy time until reinforcement arrive.

This is a dynamic mission, you get one of 12 possible missions for your sortie (Convoy attacks, airfield attacks...). Allied and enemy units you face or encounter do vary to some degree, giving a high replay value to this mission. See description for details.

Recon photographs (in briefing screen) and voice overs included.

Important!
Targets are marked on F10 map. For more immersion you should be familiar with setting and loading F10 waypoints into the Viggens navigation computer.
Mission gives you a wingman, with standard rockets loadout ,but his abilities are limited.
Created with DCS Version 2.7

Have fun!
