Planning a new "Gamer" build - requesting feedback

Recommended Posts

Wow. In a world of Google, Facebook, and *EVERY* web page with cookies, people will revolt against Win10? Perhaps. ...

Maybe. More likely just look for alternatives instead. I'm also not talking about the average people you can find on the street. For these it often is too exhausting to question the motives behind free stuff, especially from companies which are the closest to having a monopoly on computer operating systems right?

Just curious, for your 7 to 10. Are you performing an upgrade, or a complete new install of the O/S?

Since those PCs were office machines with LOTS of settings I did an upgrade to save time. Worked flawless.

Holy smokes! that thing is built like a brick s*** house! :smilewink:

Yeah, it’s solid. One of the great things is that the motherboard tray is removable so you can put it all together outside the case, then just lay it in. Power Supply and Drives go downstairs.

Airflow is also as good as it gets. Believe it comes with two fans. Plus can add more fans which I did.

No worries fitting large Graphics cards.

thanks for the info. Also, enough clearance to also take a large air cooler such as Noctua? I prefer air versus watercooled.

Thanks. I had once toyed with the idea of doing this to my Win8.1 gamer... but I'm a bit worried with all the "goodies" I have loaded on it.

Yes, There is clearance if you don't put a fan on top which is not needed with all the other fan options. Of course you could modify the top to fit a fan up there which a friend of mine did, but probably overkill.

I have 4 large fans, two front, two back in push/pull. They are quiet as well. Also, I use a Noctua Air Cooler on the CPU.

Be sure to get the grid top, not solid.

Heat problems are no issue with this case.

With the grid on all sides, the lighting on fans and components show nicely.

That is like 5 years out, Windows 7 is epic and it's obvious to many what Windows 10 does is a bit too obvious. Especially when you ask yourself why they suddenly gave a new OS to everyone for free ... = get as many people to use it as possible.

you’re forgetting your business training and case studies.

namely “support costs” and the expenses associated with it.

as you know, the quicker you can cut costs, the quicker you can bump the roi

The grid top...LoL

You know I once had coffee tripping through my rig, from the top grid, through the GPU..over the board...out on the bottom....and it survived...even kept running.

They are great for ventilation but do have their "ahem" shortcomings.

tossing between the Noctua NH-D15 air cooler, or going water... I've loved using Noctua air in the past...

On a 9900K I would've go the water route but with 9700K not really (necessary).

thanks. As I've been reading up on this, I'm seeing that as well. The Noctua works great for the 9700, but you definitely want water for the 9900.

Which ones? Have a water cooler now from when they were new too not too impressed or polarized but them, (8 years old) have they changed much??

On my previous X-79 I7 4820k build, I ran a Corsair H100i.

On this new Z390 i9 9900k build, I run a Corsair H150i Pro.
