Capn Penguin
Afternoon everyone, I am not a tech head nor do I play one on TV but I saw there were two new VR sets announced yesterday. I read the specs and, well I felt kinds like a monkey with a dictionary, because it made no sense. Any thoughts from you gentlemen and or gentlewomen who are keeping up with it? I love my Rift because it as truly plug and go but if I can get even better resolution, color me in..... Cap'n Penguin a.k.a. MegOhm_SD
The forum “experts” are opining in another thread. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=235810 But No-One really knows how it will perform in DCS until people actually use it and tweak it in DCS. Harlikwin
I prefer the title "experten"... ;) Yeah mostly check the VR forum for the news/debate. Short version so far: HP Reverb: Highest res screens for commercial VR so far (2x versus OG rift), Rift(ish) form factor. Most of the debate is if current gen high end GFX will be able to run it in DCS (they will for other games). high price. New Rift-S: Very marginal increase in res vs original rift. But same minimum specs as the original rift. low price New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1) Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really). DocSigma
From what I've read, the big advancement as far as the Rift-S is concerned is not so much the Res increase, which is always a plus, but in the inside out tracking built into the headset, obviating the need for the outside sensors.
