DCS F-4 Mega Skin Pack

OK Gents,

I finally finished theses awesome skins. I had to redo some parts of the template and thanks to Sport's dirt layer, it really brought these skins to life. I hope you guys enjoy these and if so I could use some Rep points...Anyway I collected some of the skins from the internet and had to make them 2048x2048 and I also did the pilots as well. Thanks to all the artists and skinners that made them. The skins I created are all custom made by me and as close to historic as I can possibly get them. Sport has an update to these with more skins that he created but he is away and wont be back till end of August. He will release his when he comes back. So without further ado Here's the DCS F-4 Mega Skin Pack.............47 Skins in all.

***You must have the VSN F-4 aircraft in order to use these...*** Big thanks to Razor for keep this alive.

1.5+ versions

You can copy these skins in all 3 versions of the F-4 they should work fine. They are DDS format and should work in 1.5 and 2.0 versions.

If you find any bugs please send me a PM. Please don't post anything here. thanks guys for your patience and understanding. Salute!

The F-4E skins look great but am I correct in saying that the VSN F-4E will not work in 2.2?

Also still trying to find the A-7E model you put out some skins for.

Ok, time to do some necro and revive this thread.

I'm looking for F-4 liveries and this mega pack does not work anymore unfortunately. I tried to find some help from the User files section on the website but I can't find any F-4 liveries. Does anyone know if this project will be picked up at some point or if there are others F-4 liveries ?

Anyone have any idea to correct?

Yes, a couple of years ago the textures naming convention for DCS changed and now the extension BMP is not used anymore. This makes most older skins obsolete, but they are easily fixed if you edit the description.lua file of each skin.

The original description.lua is something like this:

livery = {

    {"texture F4-OKR-1.bmp f2 g0",0,"F4-OKR-1",false};
--    {"texture F4-OKR-1.bmp f2 g0",0,"F4-OKR-1.bmp",true};
--    {"texture F4-OKR-2.bmp f2 g0",0,"F4-OKR-2.bmp",true};

    {"texture f-16-okras-r.bmp f2 g0",0,"f-16-okras-r.bmp",true};
    {"texture EJECTSEAT.bmp f2 g0",0,"EJECTSEAT.bmp",true};
    {"texture PILOT-USA-AF-OKRAS.BMP f2 g0",0,"f-4-pilot-03",false};
    {"texture PILOT-USA-HOLE.bmp f2 g0",0,"PILOT-USA-HOLE.bmp",true};
    {"texture SOPLA-F.bmp f2 g0",0,"SOPLA-F.bmp",true};
}

Edit by deleting the ".bmp" file extensions, should end up like this:

livery = {

    {"texture F4-OKR-1.bmp f2 g0",0,"F4-OKR-1",false};
--    {"texture F4-OKR-1.bmp f2 g0",0,"F4-OKR-1",true};
--    {"texture F4-OKR-2.bmp f2 g0",0,"F4-OKR-2",true};

    {"texture f-16-okras-r.bmp f2 g0",0,"f-16-okras-r",true};
    {"texture EJECTSEAT.bmp f2 g0",0,"EJECTSEAT",true};
    {"texture PILOT-USA-AF-OKRAS.BMP f2 g0",0,"f-4-pilot-03",false};
    {"texture PILOT-USA-HOLE.bmp f2 g0",0,"PILOT-USA-HOLE",true};
    {"texture SOPLA-F.bmp f2 g0",0,"SOPLA-F",true};
}

Please note that you should not delete the .bmp that is inside the texture name (the first parameter), only the one on the file name (third parameter), so do not do global text replacements.

The end result looks like this:

Thanks again to the creator "uscstaylor" for this wonderful work.

Yes, @uscstaylor is a real master, I have downloaded all his skins, particularly those for AI aircrafts like the C-17, KC-135, etc.

Cheers,

Eduardo
