I initially reacted like some others "why should I bother as I have all these modules already". It IS for newer players, I'll buy it anyway, sounds like some good features for all users.

What I'm truly excited about is the dedicated server work. Been after this for a LONG time. What a great year ED/DCS is having, props to all of you involved with this company, never would have dreamed things would be this great.

Be nice if the nttr and pg maps are the areas that are not the areas already covered would get me to buy it.

Don't count on since it would make no sense to do that.

Can you confirm that the MAC planes can be bought separately if i only want Mig-15 for example?

According to the FB post, yes.

Wait, so, is MAC essentially just a new DCS module, or something all by itself, like LOMAC was? And, either way, I'm assuming it's just the FC3 aircraft, plus the Su-25T, and simplified (FC3 level) versions of the other fighters it has, right?

I've never had a problem with FC3 aircraft and use then quite a lot for a quick DCS hit. As long as the HOTAS controls are somewhat accurate for combat in MP, it's all good and quite fair. People don't have the time to sit and do startups and checklist and I get that, they just what to go and experience and learn the combat side with their time. There is very little difference once you only look at the HOTAS setups for combat. The hope is to get more people in, some will upgrade many will join MP hopefully and we are getting dedicated servers, many that get into DCS will buy HOTAS controls to get a better decent setup.

Thank you!

For me personally, MAC's lineup couldn't be more perfect. The new additional aircraft, vs FC3, are all jets I passed on during the recent (and awesome!) summer sale. In particular, I was tempted by but did not add the MiG-21 and F-5 to my virtual hanger; having invested in a few other full-fidelity modules (see sig).

I look forward to the favourable upgrade-to-MAC pricing for those of us who already have FC3. I think the lineup, and era-based match-ups, are excellent and welcome choices. Snappy salute to ED!!! Cheers!

I too look forward for good price for FC3 and existing module owners. As that allows to get easier travel combo with MAC. Not requiring HOTAS or VR with you just to fly in a hotel or at friend place...

Is Modern Air Combat intended to become a branding label for future low-fidelity/sim-lite modules, or is it intended to be a one-and-done thing like Flaming Cliffs, at least from ED's side?

If the case is the former, will this mean that other modules may be added to the core MAC bundle or not, if that is a question that can be answered ATT

I for one would like to see if there are any differences in graphics. I mean I already have the full version in DCS World, why on earth would I turn around and buy it again....makes no sense to me...So what does this MAC have that DCS World don't....Curious

Compatibility when your noob friends buy it to fly with you lol... That's the only reason I can see for buying it.

Correct, Flaming Cliffs name is being dropped, and Modern Air Combat will be the new way to reference lo-fidelity. At least for the modern type aircraft.

As for more aircraft being added? There are no set plans to announce right now, but FC has been very popular, I think MAC will be too, so why not.

You can fly anything you own right now with the future owner of MAC, its a module for DCS World, its all compatible. The only thing would be the L-39 and if you wanted to jump in the cockpit with them. Then one of you would need to buy the same version as your buddy.

This MAC seems quite exciting, but I should have waited before buying two copies of the L-39 modules in the last sale as multicrew with my buddy was my goal. If this feature also works in MAC it would have been better to just pick the upgrade up as we both have FC3.

Yeah, sorry, always going to be people that get caught in the crossfire like that, The L-39 you have is a fun aircraft to learn and fly though, so you and your buddy should still have a ton of fun with it.

It is often brought up this way but can you tell if FC3 popularity is determined by systems simplicity or just by the aircraft selection alone?

I know my reason for the Eagle was strictly the airframe before even knowing there are SSM and ASM.

It's popular to me for both reasons. Even if I owned the ASM's of the new additions to MAC, I'd still snag it. Sometimes you just want a quickie and don't have time for all that start-up and systems-management foreplay. :smoke:

I noticed all the new additions for MAC have the exact same name as their current ASM counterparts except for the L-39ZA (vs L39C). Is there a difference? Is this an A-10A vs A-10C situation? Thanks in advance!

...a discount on MAC for each owned module?)

The only current example of this situation would be FC3's A-10A vs DCS: A-10C. The stand-alone A-10A is NOT a free option for A-10C owners, so I can't imagine there will be any discounts for the upcoming MAC aircraft.

That said, this is the first time there have been (seemingly) EXACT air-frames available between FC3/MAC and the full-fidelity DCS modules...

I suspect the pricing to be such that MAC will be a no-brainer, in full-version for newcomers or upgrade for FC3 owners. :book:

You already have start up shortcut, instant action missions or quickly create your own starting in the air if you wish. I mean even FC3 planes wait for their engines to spool up.

I am thinking in Multiplayer, this can make a big impact in discrimination by some hardcore players or mission builder. I want to share some points here.

The player should have a free choice to decide what kind of level of simulation will be in the aircraft taken. ED Should make a third GUI question at the moment to start the Briefing in GUI asking you for the level you want to use in the aircraft to fly. MAC/Full fidelity.

After the player take control in the aircraft then in the name F10/map view can show the fidelity taken by this player. The use of the MAC units should be off possible in general by the mission option, never aircraft by aircraft...

Do not leave this option to the mission builder, aircraft by aircraft. Will be a disaster in terms of flexibility and discrimination...

I think he was asking if there would be discounts for users that own multiple individual FC Aircraft.

In which case the Optimal Path for them would be to continue buying individual Aircraft.

A-10A and A-10C are 2 different Modules, that comparison doesnt Apply

L-39ZA is Part of the L-39 Module,

Aircraft w/ DCS and FC Versions will have Separate Names, ie:

L-39ZA / L-39ZA MAC

F-86F / F-86F MAC
