Thanks a lot, I installed both (and removed my version of the USN Deck Crew), I also deactivated all of my other Mods, in case one of them was conflicting .. my final Mods were these:

However, I still am missing a Mod when loading the mission :(

Anyway .. even tough your YouTube video is very enticing, I finally bit the bullet and edited my own version for Nellis, probably not as complete as yours, but using only 200 units and leaving most taxiways free for the use of AI aircrafts. I wil use it for a series of C-101CC training missions set in Nevada that I want to edit while the MiG-19 isnt yet here.

I'm attaching it in case you want to try it, just uncompress on /saved games/dcs/ :)

Ok, finally got it all to work!

The Navy Equipment file linked above is entitled US Navy Deck Equipment and is by Highwayman-ED.

This is not the problem; it's a /different/ mod that was missing called "NavyEquipment" (by MaiTai) and I found it here:

It's mainly only objects and planes used as "structure".

Only a small number of vehicles are moving from different positions.

Feel free to add additional planes in order to create air activities on and above NELLIS.:smilewink:

Thanks Razorback, I got it working too .. the key was the Mod indicated by Wikkus :D

It was interesting for me to see how other people went about this subject of adding life to the airbases. On this particular template mission (Nellis Light) there are a lot of units that are not really at Nellis, but are hidden on other bases like Tonopah, Pahute, etc .. I wonder if those are maybe debris of other missions on which this particular one was based?

I've a different view on this, as I prefer to not put scenery aircrafts on the parking positions .. I prefer to put this additional aircrafts on free spaces around the airbases that are not parking slots, this way the Template leaves the parking slots free for adding wichever aircrafts the new mission will require.

I do like to put items like ramp equipment and lights near the parking positions, but without being obstacles for the use of those positions, either by AI traffic or by Mission aircrafts.

Also, the use of Mods should really be a minimum, only the essentials, as it can make difficult to share the missions with other people.

I loved the barbwire fence Mod .. really useful, will probably make use of it on the future :)

Glad to ear that finally you are able to open the mission or the template.

As I posted on a French forum, I placed planes and objects like in the real AB (From Google Earth pictures) but I also added more items only in order to give a more "crowded" and "busy" environment.

Plenty of different templates are possible and I would be pleased to check yours if you want to share it too...

Sorry if this is a dopey question but are there any Nellis templates that require no mods (i.e. ones that use “stock” DCS objects only). I just want to populate the base a little with static objects and moving traffic.

It contains only some vehicles :

Yes ... correct .. there are 4 * AAA + 4 * SAM + 2 perimeter patrol units and three trucks circulating on areas were they wont affect any AI plane on its taxi.

When I make a mission, I use the template to add scenery at the airbase, and then I add a Random Air Traffic Template for having AI background traffic ... I like the fact that every time I run the mission, this background traffic will be different.

You could do one yourself, its as easy as making a standard mission :)

On my Templates I try to strike a balance, not too many Mods that installing them would be tiresome, but having just the stock DCS objects is extremely limiting as it includes almost nothing related to airfield scenery .. I usually use VPC Mod and Suntsag's soldiers.

If you want, you can try the Template I edited for Nellis, where I try to strike a balance between ambiance and not impeding the AI aircraft to taxi without problems:

It uses just two Mods:

1) The great VPC Airfield Objects Mod by @voc. Unfortunately 2.5.6 crashed with this Mod, but I discovered that if I disabled the objects night lighting, it did work fine for daytime missions. I still hope that its author will be able to fix it and thus get the lighting back.

You should use my version of the Mod, as the official one is not compatible with dcs 2.5.6

You can use on day or night missions, only that the VPC lights will not function.
