Mission 9 - circling and circling and circling :-)

Hi,

I guess somehow I miss a trigger. I have played this mission twice in the last days and everytime I seem to get stuck in my CAP Zone. I am circling between WP3 and WP4 but nothing happens. What am I missing?:helpsmilie:

Green Radio is CH03 (Mission) // Red is CH02 (AWACS)

I fly at 23000ft as described in the briefing.

Btw.: Thanks for this awesome campaign. It is very immersive and I hope we will see a lot more of this kind of campaigns:thumbup:

Yes, I am pretty sure that INS was fully aligned prior to taxiing and taking off. Will try to check this again and cross check my position with the kneeboard.

Thanks for the effort. First I will confirm, that there is no INS Problem. If that is true, I will try to enlarge the zone. In any case I report the results :-)

I think I found the cause of all this. I used the standard mission (not the updated one in your first post). I managed to taxi out and get past the Tornados.

But they never took off. So there is the "Saxon" flight missing in the air. Have to check this tomorrow.

i also have a problem with this mission, as soon as i arrive at WP4 in my first flythrough some dude on the radio tell me to fly back to wp3 and than back to wp4, but when im close to wp4 i get the message: MISSION FAILED, and it says i didnt fly my flightplan. I get the message 1-3 miles out of wp4 as soon as my wingmate tells me the stuff.

Are you using the updated version of the mission? It looks as if you somehow ventured to Russian territory... and the usual question (sorry for that) - did you do a proper, full alignment?

actually i cant tell you this, i re installed DCS after a long brake, the mission in the M2000c folders are named Mission 01 FINAL, every mission has the Final tag and was last modified 17.04 except the mission 06 that i already changed to a new version. where can i get all the updated new missions?

yes i did a full aligment of the INS. i have to try it this evening again

EDIT: is the first link in this post the most up to date campaign? https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2979206&postcount=1

Just playing the Mirage campaign, which is excellent by the way, but find myself stuck circling in Mission 9. So I tried the updated version you posted but same issue.

For me Saxon flight does take off, and does kill the Geckos. Then 1 instructs me to contact the AWACS, so I switch to green 4 and start getting BRAs from Magic. And I can request a picture or bogey dope from Magic ... however, there's nothing else I can do. There's no special "F10 option" to either contact Magic in a special way, or to tell 1 that I have contacted Magic. So we just fly round and round in circles. I also tried contacting Magic on red 2, but that also doesn't give me any more options. I'm keeping in good formation with Pontiac 1-1, so I wouldn't have thought it's a trigger issue ...

No scrub all that, watched it played out on youtube and it's actually my mistake. Pontiac 1-1 does actually give a more specific instruction, although it is a lot to digest in one go:

Wilco Two, hey go ahead and tune in magic. I will let you know if anything is going on on main. Intercept the enemy aircraft, get in formation with it, and report back.

This instruction is actually ambiguous, and contains an implicit change of subject. It's easy to misunderstand and think that he's saying he will listen to main, intercept the aircraft, get in formation and report back. Especially if you are listening to the audio rather than reading. I actually thought he was just saying we'll go and intercept it.

Apparently all three times I saw this I thought his basic instruction was for me to contact Awacs and get the position of the contact, and tell him. Essentially he wanted me to handle the comms with Magic and report back while he listened to the main channel, which is exactly consistent with what he asked me to do earlier in the mission (with Saxon) and which would seem more normal to me anyway. If he wanted me to break formation, I'd expect an explicit order to do that, rather than a general instruction to intercept it (implicitly breaking formation). A much better order would have been:

Two, break formation and intercept the enemy aircraft. Go ahead and tune in Magic to get the position, then get in formation with the contact and report back. I will let you know if anything is going on on main

Possibly a general note for future campaigns is that when giving orders I would suggest that it's best to give the primary task first. I would also suggest complex orders could do with the "player" voice giving a read back, as would very likely happen in real life. A simple "Two, breaking formation and intercepting" would have done wonders here. I absolutely love the radio interactions in the campaign, they are probably the best bit and add incredibly character to it. But I do sometimes find the instructions to be a lot to digest, especially because they can involve subtleties, and you're often busy with something else at the time. In real life, this would be fine because you could just ask for clarification. But several times in the campaign, I've missed some subtle part of the instruction or not exactly understood it, and without any way to repeat it I've just wandered around wondering what it was that I was supposed to do next exactly.

Hey, thanks for your feedback! Actually I think the upcoming Red Flag comms will be much more structured and I will be using more on-screen messages to tell player what to actually do. I won’t change the VO but I can add a message here as well just for clarity. Glad you are enjoying the campaign!

Hi baltic_dragon.

Did a first run on this mission (updated one) and caught something odd.

I was in formation with the antonov as instructed, reported back to leader on Red1, switch to green3 as instructed and... The antonov disapeared replaced by another one (blue one this time) and nothing more on any radios ! (followed the blue antonov till he safely land but nothing more :( )

Got the Tacview track if you want (and if you don't watch my pitty attempt to AAR and finally shoot the tanker :O)

Yes I supposed it was to change it from Red to Blue but they do not have same heading so change was pretty visible from close escort :)

I surely did something wrong then, all I remember is the british calling lots of sam shoots and then nothing...

Thanks, otherwise I will find a youtube video to see what's next :)

edit : ok so after pushing green3 I should hear Saxon 1-1 calling Mudspike, but never got that triggered, don't know why
