DCS 2.5 is an SSD required? Fluid problems.

Hi sorry when I buy SSD I would like to do a windows 10 pro installation from 0, totally clean. I will install DCS World and put my profiles and saves.

This is because I would like to rule out any system errors.

PS do you consider the crucial mx500 a good ssd?

I have only ever downloaded DCS once, have a few backups on an external drive, copy paste, run repair, run cleanup, redo links, the maps are to big to download again:cry:.

Just deactivate all the modules in the DCS manager than copy the full install to an external backup drive, plus the save the DCS save games folder.

I use SkateZilla's Updater GUI Utility or command line to do the repairs etc, it's up to you tho if you want to download everything again.;)

Never had any experience with this drive only use Samsung, if BitMaster says it's ok, then it's a good drive, he has helped many people around here with there systems.:thumbup:

You are maybe # 101 who is asking the "SSD" question.

 

Everyone who then got one got happy, maybe that tells you how much difference it makes.

 

If you do not know SSD's, here is a quick tip which ones are best and often considered by many gamers:

I would either pick a Samsung 850 or 860 series, or a Crucial MX500 ( not 300 ). Those are the fastest 2.5" around.

If you can usre NVMe, then get that, it's even faster for about the same money. Samsung makes the best NVMe modules as of now imho, 960 series.

MX500 has top reviews everywhere.

Either that or a Samsung is your best bet.

Just now installed DCS 2.5.3 on a SSD disk I had laying inside an old Macbook and had totally forgot.

With HDD it took over 5 minutes to load a training mission.

The same mission takes just a little over 30 sec on the SSD.

Note! I did not and do not know if a clean install would have done any difference on the HDD.
