Be careful. I banged my HMD on my side table because I opened the Huey doors to look out and down. I forgot that I had my side desk table and bang it! LOL. After a year of this, my brain still forgets it's just "virtual"

The beauty of VR is that even though I was looking down and out the door, I knew how to fly the Huey. Your spatial awareness is so real that you have no problems with things like this.

The other one I tried, come in low for a CCRP/CCIP bombing, start to pull up and you'll lose site of the target since you're climbing. Invert so you can physically look up (to look down at the target). After climbing inverted, pull back to to start the dive, roll again to come out of inverted dive, pickle, release. :)

Some more useful tips:

And in the Controls section (where you select planes for hotas mapping), go all the way down to UI Layers. That's where you can map the mouse clicks on to the HOTAS and the Zoom. Zoom works well.

Go after some SAM sites and have them launch at you. Make it a clear day so you can see it streaking up at you. That'll make you pucker factor go up! ;)

We had a great Sunday, the two teenager girls, mom and myself, GREAT !

DCS is awesome but so are the other included game.

Yeah VR can be dangerous, you got to take precautions to not run into your Monitor, window, DOG, kid...many new things to think about.

:pilotfly:It's the best thing since Gsync :pilotfly:

Thank you all guys for pushing me the right direction, indeed worth every penny spent :)

Indeed, SA gets a 100% Boost.

Flying as a skill becomes easier too, the increased SA leads to better steering :joystick:

I want to fly the helicopters tonight. As DCS refuses to accept my old key binding lua files from my backup I couldnt fly yesterday.

Tonight I will redo the 3 Heli's bindings and give it a try.

BTW, what resolution do you set in DCS when in VR mode ?

and which Pixel Density is advised. I set mine to 1.7 for now but had only minutes of flying time

so I cant really tell anything yet.

Just leave your monitor at it's native resolution.

PD - I run 1.5, seems to be about the sweet spot. Though with your rig it should handle 1.7 with no problem. Much higher gives diminishing returns.

I am at 1.0 PD for 2.1 and 1.7 for 1.5.8 MSAA is not an option anymore for 2.1 with defered shading. The oculus tray tool or the oculus debug tool will let you set a PD independently nd overwrite the game setting if required

I took my first flight in the Mi-8 !

I am SUCH a bad Pilot..omg...you feel every little stupid move. Since I havent flown for like "weeks" I got rusty and taking off was a bit like "could be done better"...but with the amplification from VR I had to throw up almost..LOL.

It pays to fly smooth and gentle when you begin with VR.

As you all said, after 10min Mi-8 I felt dizzy and had to stop.

Hope to find some quiet time tonight and try again.

I really need that USB card, or better, 2 front panels as I have an additional 2 ext. headers available. USB ports become a rare good these days with new mobos.

Lol, yep short flights with some breaks as soon as you start to feel sickly will certainly help. Took me around 2-3 weeks to get my VR legs so to speak.

I use the Innatek PCIe powered USB 3.0 card with good results, have both sensors and HMD plugged into it.

I had no time to fly, or better said, I was way too tired to do that..but I worked the CPU up to 5.2 stable with acceptable temps of about 78-82°C/core running prime95_26.6

What a great CPU, if just the board would accept my XMP settings, sigh...more work to be done

...my DCS crash was a too high OC for the GPU, she no like 2100MHz ! 2000 default is ok, heck, its 2-3 fps difference.

So far, I love it. Just Pilotasso's postr about the upcoming Ryzen-2 makes me wanna sell it right away and move on to Ryzen 2's out of the box 5.1 XFR with even more cores...and a proper TIM !

Probably hard to find a 1080 Ti that can run and hold 2100 MHz, at least on air.

She was about 50°C when she failed. It's the core itself, not the temp etc..

Auto-oc from asus pushes her to 2G with PT at 120% and temp limit ALL the way down to 65°C, which she never reaches on water.
