Joint Force Harrier by Adrian Orchard details a lot of systems and combat uses during his deployment to Afghanistan, pretty good read, nice details about the flight characteristics at high altitude and different types of weapons. I can recommend the Haynes Hawker Siddeley/BAe Harrier Manual. A very nice introduction to the Harrier family.

Lon Nordeen's AV-8B Harrier II Units of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, detailing the day attack Harrier ops during that conflict. A full scale war war very different from today's endless counter insurgency campaigns.

A Nightmare's Prayer: A Marine Harrier Pilot's War in Afghanistan, by Michael Franzak. A well written memoir, about the authors deployment to Afghanistan flying the Night Attack Harrier.

New additions are welcomed, the goal of this thread is to gather ressources that has been read by the community. It's pretty easy to shop around and pick some random books on the topic but I rather trust your opinion instead of buying "unrated" books.

RAF Harrier Ground Attack - Falklands by Jerry Pook.

Pook was a pilot in No(1) Squadron and fought in the Falklands War. Very interesting read and has a detailed description of RAF CAS procedures.

I already bought three books from the list and I'm currently reading A Nightmare's Prayer from Major Franzak. I like it so far (I'm over half the book) as we can have a first hand account of aerial operations over a modern "battlefield". However, this book is more about how to endure this kind of war - COIN - than actual technical details of how to operate the Harrier in an hostile environment.
