The tf51 is free for all to use though, so that removes any excuses (besides being poor at flying) and it can land and take off in pretty hard spots, those jets may have trouble to do the same.

please can we have 1 or 2 runway starts for the harrier. taking off from farps with the default loadout is difficult at best i normally end up having to go strait to an airport anyway to get the loadout i need.

thank you

Agreed, that's the idea I assumed too. It's the fact every single unit, including deployed in a mountain or a forest is shown across the entire map. That's some amazing recce! :D

As I say though, not a massive deal as it's just a blue dot on a map, doesn't say what it is and it's only updated at spawn afaik. Would be nice to have some options to control it but it works fine as is.

Btw while your here - any idea how we'd diagnose some connectivity issues with the server?

Seems that UDP packets get lost in the return to the client - which is why some can't see the server. Checked with wireshark as I'm now experiencing it too.

With a VPN server is visible.

Without it - my UDP packets reach the server, server replies and then they get lost :(

Few people on different ISPs and in different countries are experiencing it but no idea what can be done, if anything, other than use a VPN.

I have an idea. Why not to put few units static. To avoid the ka50 pilots to know there are always enemies.

After playing Blue Flag and other dynamic campaign servers (DDCS and 104th Longbow), it looks like ED could benefit A LOT the multiplayer community by adding the MISSION PLANNER SCREEN to multiplayer. Singleplayer has it, so why not?

On top of that, it would really complete the package if Commander could draw over the map shown to everyone in the MISSION PLANNER SCREEN. Request CAP locations, strike locations, escorts, etc. Commander stuff.

Currently, planning on multiplayer goes like this: see which aircraft and spawn location each enemy and allied player has chosen. Open web browser and look at the external web map (if the server has one) to see which airfields/FARPS are being attacked. Choose an aircraft and airfield. Spawn to be able to use the F10 map and SRS (if server has it). Turn on the radio on the aircraft and use SRS (if the server has it) to ask your team where you're needed, then go back to the spawn screen and NOW choose the appropriate aircraft and airfield to spawn (I've tried using the text chat in the initial screen, but no one replies to that and I understand why. EDIT: no one uses Discord too and I also understand why).

From what I understand, the MISSION PLANNER screen is available to the mission designer, which creates not only the world's situation - scripts, triggers, position and quantity of enemies and allies, weather, season (in other words: everything), but also does the propper MISSION PLANNING for each future player, placing their waypoints, creating their roles, etc. I'm not a mission designer, please correct me if I'm wrong. It's designed for single static misisons, in which you will fly a pre-determined sortie (determined by the mission designer) and only that. It's not designed for dynamic missions like we have in all these stunning servers...

One of these days I may open a thread in the DCS WISHLIST section to request the mission planner. Don't really believe it will be implemented, but no one could say I didn't try...

+1 would be the best improvement they could do right now

We have some plans for a generals concept. :)

Part of it is already available which is the locked discord HQ channels - which are designed for longer term planning and sharing of intel.

Make sure to join the Discord and join in: https://discord.gg/mckCvTc

Set your nickname to match your dcs name and you'll be granted access automatically. There have been some great posts in red and blue, with blue sharing intel and battle plans especially effectively

Scripts: Complete Transport And Logistics Deployment - CTLD / CTLD Examples - Lots of example of how to use CTLD

CSAR Script - Downed Pilot Rescue / Dedicated Server Script - Automatically launch DCS Multiplayer server at startup

Range Scoring Script - Get scores and counts hits on targets for gunnery or bombs / SimpleSlotBlock - Multiplayer dynamic Slot Blocking Script

Projects: DCS-SimpleRadio Standalone - DCS Radio Integration for All Aircraft - NO TeamSpeak Required! :)

You mean to be incorporated into DCS or to be an external addition, like the web map or SRS?

Everytime I join Discord it's like ghost town. I use the same nick name for everything and I'm already locked to the red text channel, but there's almost no activity there. And on the voice channel it's effectively 0 activity, I don't think I ever saw a living soul on the voice channels. Currently I don't even run Discord, as most players, I suppose...

We'll say more when we're sure of what we can achieve. :)

Not sure which channel your in, there are 3 posts from today in red HQ - a whole bunch on the main channel. Best thing to do of there are no posts is post! If you do, others will, gather people and plan an attack. No point in just complaining about lack of posts if you don't post

Discord isn't for voice in DCS, that's SRS so the voice channel there won't be used much - though people are free to use it for squad comms or whatever

Edit: worth pointing out I don't disagree at all, if ed can add planning tools that'll be great!

_______Is (are) KUB_Launcher and Troops Being Dumbed-Down as to Lethality ??

===================================================

At Malot in Mi-8 I loaded up a couple sets of troops and the KUB Launcher and its radar to a little ways out and above the Malot FARP. All components deployed fine. I set down within eye-view a little ways away in the trees to observe.

Eventually a lone Gazelle came in and with its multiple passes completely wiped out the SAM site. The Gazelle took some damage but he completed killing off the site and flew off relatively unscathed. He did not see my Mi-8 in the trees. I was fine.

What gives?

I fly by one pass passed troops in my Ka-50 and take fire that almost always kills my hydraulics immediately.

You guys (mission developers) deliberately dumbing down Red side's defensive capabilities??

Sure enough looks that way to me...

Erm.... No. We are not dumbing down either side - you have identical troops and deployable defences :)

Maybe he just got lucky.

@PeaceSells:

Don't expect too much communication from Red side, we are horribly disorganized most of the time. Your best bet is always in-game SRS and text-chat. Even though you might not get an answer most of the time, it is still the best you can do, all other options for coordination are ignored even more, or not used to their full potential.

It is very important to be pro-active in regards to communication, something Red is not able to do most of the time.

I fly Red with the copters. SRS does work fairly well if tuned to Channel 126 for GCI.

I am in NY State, most of the guys must be in Europe as their activity in numbers is best about 5 PM my time. Couple guys will work as forward control operators and will advise accordingly.

But I agree, Red side needs attack coordination as a teamwork objective everybody working together; I rarely see that, too.

I always have the text-chat up to read. Discord I am not impressed with.

Communication I expect strictly military in-flight objectives talk and not the usual nonsense chatter that throws my concentration.

Turn AWACS on for the Su-27S.

Please no, one of the coolest things on Blue Flag is that there's no datalink on the Su-27.

^^ So far I have only played Blue Flag on the red team, because I haven't learned the A-10C yet. I can fly the Ka-50, the F-15, the Su-27, the Huey and the Su-25T. So on red I can do CAP or strike, while on blue it's CAP or transport. So I obviously choose red, but that's only until I learn the A-10C.

Turn AWACS on for the Su-27S.

Do not disable it intentionally for the Red Coalition.

It adds lag, so it's disabled. :)

There is a new EWR script available - worth a try as an alternative. Deploy more EWRs to increase its range.

Are you afraid?

Do not write about K-50.

Play for the reds.

That's why I quit playing on the 104th.

All you guys strive for realism.

You guys join up real military combat ops. Go get a taste of real life.

No radar systems are that good!!

Real combat is ever very well coordinated, mostly unorganized as hell!

104th 's Blue team requested copter pilots, then dumbed it down and use the copters for target practice. Me? No thanks.

I switched over to Blue Flag couple months ago. Still trying to decide whether I'll be staying.
