M12 GMC not firing

Im trying to add a few M12s to a mission but cant get them to start firing. I have German arty working in mission, fire at point and zone radius are set, have tried adding weapons free ROE.

The M12 unlatches barrel, points towards target, shovel thingie digs in but that's it. Oddly, I had added some infantry and resupply truck to group and the soldier hopped into the M12 once. Do I need to add a whole crew?

I can only think maybe distance or terrain might be causing it. Targets are less than 2 miles away and slightly higher elevation. Is that to close for M12? When M12 points toward target barrel doesn't raise at all so maybe it cant reach proper setting. I thought I had these working in another mission but I think they were firing 5-6 miles away in that one.

{SOLVED}As I suspected lower elevation and close range were making trajectory impossible. Working from a higher location.
