The Mirage III will be awesome, legendary and famous plane used for many things by many countries! And facing Mig21 with her will be very interesting and exiting !

I've got a MIII panel (dunno the version, maybe a B or E), I will try to make it takes life again with DCS ^^

(and yes, this is an air refueling probe on the right, from a Jaguar, and it still smells Kero')

This is Mirage IIIB

I am a bit worried about this project. Razbam announcing all kinds of new modules, mig looking good, harrier and M2KC getting love?

But the iconic 3? dead silence, ive messaged them, poked them, commented on just about everything I can...not a word from them. just a yes we are still doing it or no go away its boring would be nice.

I can only imagine how annoying that must be for the developers. They said they will do it, so they will. I don't understand why people need confirmation they are still working on it every other week. Just have a little faith and patience for a few years, it helps

Well, it's been announced more than two years ago and then silence, i think it reasonable ask for info or state of the project because many people out there likes the plane and they are hyped.

Even a "the project is currently on hold" is something, or maybe they don't tell anything because it's around the corner and they want to surprise us, at least i hope so.

Haven’t heard anything for ages on the Mirage III. Is there still a plan for the MIII from Razbam. The original plan was for perhaps a multi version module iirc.

This is not a “when will it be out?” question, but rather a “Is this going to be a thing?” question. Or have Razbam changed their mind on this and I missed the announcement?

Id rather see an m3 done well, rather than a half assed f15e.

I thing this module will be available some day, it's an important aircraft for the Falkland conflict that they are developing, maybe they are changing the version.

The two things they are probably considering are:

1. Do we do the specific Argentine Mirage 3 since we are doing a falklands map

2. Or Do we do the most exported model and it will be "close enough" for the falk map. And it will be a better fit for other maps.

That applies to everything else in the conflict - Lynx HAS2 ( Falklands only, HAS3 soon after ) vs HMA8 ( GW2, Afghanistan, export ones still used and rather more capable ), Harrier? we don't have a Harrier with a radar at all so there's no British CAP fighter yet ( and in fact even if you allow land aircraft somehow there's *still* nothing ); but the SHAR2 radar was *vastly* better than the SHAR1. No Etendard so no Exocet... no Sea Dart, no Sea Wolf, no Sea King. If there's going to be other period specific modules then it makes sense to match them but if it's just the usual piecemeal then it's probably best to go with what has most data, I guess?

Well, lets not forget that the current harrier is a harrier 2 not a harrier 1.

Overall it doesn't make a ton of sense in many ways. I guess they could do "modern" falklands. But at that point they should model the Typhoon. Or maybe like a 90's era falklands war or something.

I'm not complaining about the map choice, it mostly just strikes me as a bit of a weird choice not knowing what the actual plans for it are.

Richard has quite a point in how that applies to pretty much all of DCS.

Oh I know. The plane set is just a random mish mash of whatever.

Last week Prowler posted a picture of a Sea Harrier model being worked on (the pic has been posted on their Discord server). Also we know the Pucara and a lot of other assets (boats and submarines included) will be included in the game.

I think Razbam is truly committed to provide a comprehensive review of the Malvinas war. They would be the first developper going all in on a specific topic and I'm 100% behind this idea. We could have the first comprehensive set of a regional conflict in DCS.

SHAR 2 had the radar from the Tornado IDS, and ended up with stuff like Link-16 ( iirc anyway ) and AMRAAM as well as more AIM-9s. The SHAR 1 is more like a VTOL F-5 - had a radar from the naval Lynx, which is not exactly a platform intended for looking for air threats! the only real relation between them was they're both Harriers. If there's a full set of assets for one conflict that would be quite something ( not only that but for other Cold War scenarios at least with the British parts ) but actually whether it makes sense to do an Argentine M3 or a more generic export M3 is a reasonable discussion still. Doing a full asset set even with this limited scenario - 2x different Harriers, M3, Pucara, Lynx, Seaking? Puma? Invincible, Hermes, 3-4 escort ship types with a mix of missile systems that need to work, AI Nimrod / Canberra / Learjet / Etendard & exocet... that's a big job for one team. And that's ignoring whether they can depend - in a commercial aspect - on the Skyhawk being around & similarily for other unguaranteed community assets.

If it's possible in DCS to do a modular approach they could do both for the M3, perhaps. If it's cockpit mods & weapons fits & some tweaked systems then that should be possible without *too* much work if it's designed in from the start.

Well it would be cool if they managed to pull it off. I'm just not holding my breath that its happening anytime soon.

On the plus side, the sea harrier, could in theory be fairly straightforward to do. They need to rework the FM a bit, but they have one, avionics are simpler than the NA provided they have the necessary docs.

SHAR was built around the GR3, which would be the AV-8A in the USMC - rather different aircraft to the Harrier II we have at the moment. They at least have a tested system for vectored thrust, that'd save a bit of work... it'd probably be less work to do a GR3 fro the SHAR afterwards than to do a SHAR from the AV-8B.
