kristod76
you dont need to do that anymore I understand that I delete shaders from "Saved games" folder without purpose. They are recreated but even with fast SSD it still takes a lot of time. Do you mean that it is not necessary since shaders are stored only in the following folders which are not changed during updates? "%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo" "%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2" What if something will change? DCS will recreate only some shaders which are new? speed-of-heat
I'm sorry i dont understand what you have written? I mean that you *do not* need to delete any of: - terrains folders - fxo - metashaders 2 it will still take some time as the shaders will still need to recomplile SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware Intel Corei7-12700KF @ 5.1/5.3p & 3.8e GHz, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Dell S2716DG, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO
kristod76
I was thinking that recompilation can be avoided if I don't delete fxo and metashaders2 for objects which has not changed. Since it’s ED’s feature I hope it undergoes fixing soon. Definitely doesn’t seem like a finished feature but still anything’s worth improved performance. speed-of-heat
Do i have to reapply it after todays patch yes you do , the MOD applies to the DCS core directory; every patch may overwrite anything there, so best practice is to install using OVgme/jgsme/modmanfx and reinstall EVERY TIME... Nealius
Has anyone figured out how to optimize these shaders for the Tomcat+Supercarrier? I have everything pretty low/medium/off, and the Tomcat gets mid-high 30s while the Hornet gets low-mid 40's on the Supercarrier in the same missions with the same settings. I've tried changing just about every setting and nothing seems to matter for the Tomcat.
Turbohamster
Just wanted to say a massive Thank you to Speed Of Heat and the other members who contributed to this thread. I'd given up a bit on DCS as could never get it quite right in VR, cockpit instruments were difficult to read and perf was so so. Despite running pretty much the best hardware possible. Fast forward 6 months and WOW! The optimisations in this thread especially the sharpening method in the cockpit, in the new shaders mod. And its literally a different game, I have a crystal clear cockpit, much higher settings & pretty much double the frame rates. Mind blown
