VR Shaders mod for better VR experience

Recommended Posts

With the Pimax 5k+ on Normal FoV I found mask size of .725 to be about right. If anybody else has been trying to dial it in.

Has anybody tried large FoV? I haven't because I run in 144hz mode. But I'm curious of what the mask size is for large FoV

I found .725 right if you are using parallel projection mode, but you shouldn't need to use parallel projection mode anymore. It used to required for VR zoom to work right, but it causes a large FPS and clarity hit. Without parallel projection on try what was quoted here earlier of .590 for normal FOV. Without parallel projection Pimax 5k+ large FOV mask size is somewhere between .625 and .650, trying to fine tune it now but takes awhile since the shaders have to be redone each time.

Hi all,

I'm just quite curious: I fly DCS in VR with Oculus Rift S and I made some tests editing _HMD.hlsl file, pushing the #MASKSIZE par down to 0.480 and it still looks great, no black borders or so seen inside.

And great performance with the shaders, as always!

Any feedback about this specific parameter from other Oculus Rift S users? I understand the parameter can vary depending on the IPD setting each one of us uses, nominal one is perfect for me anyway.

Thank you and thanks again for all the efforts and the great job with these shaders!

2.5.6.49798 stable - VR Shader Mod?

Hi guys, is there any planned release or a shader mod version for the DCS 2.5.6.49798 stable version?

The DCS World 2.5.6.49314 Shaders still works for the new stable version, but i got a strange cloud or wave reflections from the ocean not dissapearing when looking around, that's the only one graphic thing that annoys, or buggy...

And the newest version for the beta 2.5.6.50321 does not work for the stable version. You'll get an error message.

Any help, does anyone know, if there's a mercy from the mod devs for the stable version, would be very nice.

Cause of the mod i got such an improvement on fps for VR, i just fly VR.

And for now, everything is readable. Got the steam index.

Thx 4 support.

delete the water.fx from the mod before installing the mod itself. run a repair, delete that file, reinstall.

Im going to try that out, will report later.

Is there any information, about for an upcoming release for the stable DCS 2.5.6.49798 version?

Because the latest one (is for the beta DCS 2.5.6.49314 Open Beta - 19.05.2020), which is compatible and working, but there i have the cloud freeze, reflections bug (last post on page 196)

And the stable version is not the same. DCS 2.5.6.49798 - 28.05.2020

Stable: DCS 2.5.6.49798 - 28.05.2020

Betastate VR Shader mod: (working one, with bug - DCS 2.5.6.49314 Open Beta - 19.05.2020)

Vr Shader Mod: DCS World 2.5.6.50321 = not working with Stable DCS 2.5.6.49798: Will result in a crash while starting the sim.

Thx 4 support

no i suspect there is not going to be a new one until the current OB rolls to Stable, you can try using the clear water version (for stable in my sig) that might fix your issue

Thx a lot for your quick response to my issue.

Also a lot of thanks for the VR shader mod. You did a great work, and it improves so much performance in DCS, hope ED does honor your work, and hopefully they include the things officially to DCS for the VR pilots.

I downloaded the files, from your sig, repaired my DCS, did delete all meta-shaders, fxo shaders, and terrain files, like in this video

I will report later, will try both out, the one with clear water and the one without. Hopefully, this will solve the problem.

Good flight

A lot of stuff in that video is either outdated, or simply wrong, so don't rely on it.

The uninstall instructions are in the readme tax or similar, but you should always use something like ovgme or jgsme to install mods for this reason.

Another way is to repair your dcs installation, that will clean all mods, in the game DIR, but, will leave mods in the saved game DIR untouched.

if you need a version that passes the Integrity Check see my link below, they will pass the IC but the perf improvement will be less.

Any get the IC failure with the latest version of DCS?

I'm getting : "Can't find deferred/ResolveDepth.fx"error with the latest Shader Mod (2.5.6.50321)even after doing the whole delete cache/metashader/fxo (although not required as per instructions on the readme file) so I reverted back to 2.5.6.49314. Anyone running 2.5.6.50321 shader mod can shed a light?

Thanks

Does the MSAA mask really work?

Hi Speed-of-Heat:

I have updated to the latest Beta version and installed the Mod Shader modification in the clear water version.

I have kept so far the 2.5.6 May version, in which the Mod Shaders still allow to adjust the size of the MSAA mask.

But I see that for the current OB version it requires a Mod version that no longer allows for adjusting the MSAA mask size. The Kegetys version also does not include this option because he says that ED has included it as an option, but apparently it does not work or does not work as efficiently as in the MOD.

Now if I put MSAAx2 in the Caucasus like I had before I don't get the smooth flying at treetop level anymore. To get the smoothness back I have to disable MSAA completely and it doesn't look as good?!

Kegetys / Speed-of-heat: Would it be possible to add this option to the Mod again?

Greetings

You are likely using the wrong version of the mod, repair dcs and use the latest version of the mod.
