I'm not running a 770 anymore. I switched to an RX480 and still didn't really see much of an increase in performance. Just think Intel + Nvidia is a better combination for DCS. My all AMD system seems to be a bit of a letdown on that front. It's a big upgrade in other games though.

[...]It's a big upgrade in other games though.

You've answered your own question. The problem is not really AMD here but the engine used by Eagle Dynamics that is a "little" aged. Buying an AMD CPU today is a pretty good idea as the architecture is more future proof than the current Intel chips, DX11 and more over DX12 will benefit from the multi-threading process being used by AMD's Ryzen.

Matt Wagner already stated that they are willing to update their engine to support multi-threading, but considering their limited ressources they cannot give a frame date to its support. With a little luck we should have it by the next five years)))

If you're using your computer for other games and applications, Rizen is today the most logical choice ; as time passes you'll see some serious improvements as the new titles and apps will be built around multi-threads CPUs.

Its this in 1080p or 4k ?

howie, the R7 should give you better performance.

Heres my testing:

So considering everything I exposed here, I believe you may be graphics bottlenecked. That 700 may not be enough anymore.

Something is wrong there. I have 7970 and it is the exact same card as RX 285 and better in every way then GTX 580. I play the game in full hd, low-medium settings and I get as low as 15 FPS if things get down and dirty (max about 77 fps) . I am looking for an upgrade and I could see that in 2k a GTX 1080 runs a little above medium for a 60 fps min. target, witch is consistent with 1080ti 1080p tests. I have no idea what it is, but my personal experience and other players tests that you can check on youtube, you need a 1080ti to max-out the game in 1080p and get minimum 40+ fps

Wow AMD Ryzen is sure looking good, I was on a laptop which was a low end and was running 1.5 and worked quite well but now the board is out and cannot be repaired so I will be using an Intel Core2 Quad 8200 with 8GB and I am thinking of getting a R7 240 4 GB as that is all I can afford, main thing would XP / DCS that's about it.

Hi Guys,

I hate to be one of these people but I really need your help

This is my current PC specification....

Operating System: Windows 10 home 64-bit

Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO Motherboard Intel Z170

Processor: Intel Core i7 6700K Skylake Quad Core OC 4.6k

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB 2X8GB Dual Channel DDR4 3000MHz PC4-24000 DIMM

DirectX Version: DX12

Graphics Card: R9 295x2

My aim is to get a really good VR experience in DCS 1.5 & 2.1

Currently if I go anywhere over 1.4 pixel density or medium settings bad things happen.

I also only get single GPU utilization in VR.

My question is...

Shouldn't this rig be capable of strong performance? (looking at results on this threads first page)

Is my poor performance due to DCS worlds lack of crossfire support?

Should I just give up and try and swap to something like a GTX 1080ti?

Thanks for any reply's guys, appreciated.

I think the main goal at the moment is overclock the cpu... singel core performance is for dcs for this moment important i think.. with my system at the momant i run dcs 2.1 the pd at 1.5,

2 settings on high, medium distance low shadow and diferent shading at on and multi sampling at 2x... everything go smooth at the moment but somthimes a bit less smooth when on airport...

I fly like this till its get better hopfull with the 2.5 :)

You will see a massive boost in performance when you upgrade your GPU to a GTX1080TI, as CF and SLI are not utilized in VR.

Agreed,

I only have a 1070 and boost it up using MSI afterburner to see the biggest benefits, I stick to very small mission with very few units etc. VR is mostly GPU.

Hi Madmike, it would be great to have a standardised mission we could benchmark off, probably with a free module so new users could get a grasp of how the sim will run on their machine.

What is the software you use for the information displayed:)

Hi, that's i am tolking about, yes, standart benchmark:) I used MSI Afterburner. SU-25 and Mustang too slow planes for benchmarks IMHO, and F-15 diffinitelly not expensive module.

Sorry for the noob question, I never seen a test like that before where you show 4 testing sections on 1 screen? How is that done? Thanks

Thanks, I watched that video and did not see the relationship. Im an old fart so no biggie,, thought it was some kind of software you could run to generate those results of multiple screens,,, thanks anyway.

I posted this in the wrong thread

I ran your mission with high settings and got 186 FPS pretty constant. Trying to record caused some freezing due to a poor performing SSD

attachment.php?attachmentid=175953&d=1515671514

This was run at 4.7Ghz because I don't think a 5.2 overclock was representative of most builds
