Sorry brother, I can't replicate this. I flew a bunch of take offs and landings at Khasab and also taking off from Ras and landing at Khasab and this doesn't happen for me.

New version is up:

 

Changelog v104

- AI Support Flights can now be told to abort their missions and return to base via the radio menu under 'Abort Directives'

- Khasab F-16 Defenders will now be silent on radio so we don't get spammed with 'pushing from waypoint 0' etc.

Looking forward to the caucus version. I really like the persian gulf version.

 

It's getting close to completion, I've jammed in all the changes that I've been adding into Snowfox, just need to give it a solid test out post additions to make sure everything is behaving :pilotfly:

 

If everything checks out it should be out before the weekend.

Tankers and AWACS are out of fuel. I would suggest restarting the mission after about 4-5 hours to avoid things like this.

 

Or one can quite simply include some extra scripting to respawn tanker and awacs once they land. Just a friendly suggestion. :thumbup: Mission looks good, I'm having a go at it some day now! :pilotfly:

Awesome. Great work. I really like how it has something for everyone - me and my friends tend to fly different aircraft - some just flaming cliffs fighters and others full on sim based modules.

 

To make things more interesting, you could keep adding different missions over time as you update to different versions?

Snowfoxers! Version 105 is now up.

 

Changelog v105

- AWACS/Texaco/Shell will now orbit for 4 hours and then return to base. Once they do that they will utilize technology stolen from Area 51 and will respawn. Magic!

- Carrier Group has had extra waypoints added to allow for longer mission running times

- Bullseye reference added to mission briefing, and since we DCS pilots don't look at briefings, the Operation Snowfox Bullseye reference is at Shahid Bahonar Port near Havadarya

- Various adjustments to Iranian/Russian units just for consistency

- F/A-18C radio frequencies dialed in as follows: Comm 1 - Ch1: AWACS Ch2: Stennis Ch3: Texaco Ch4: Shell Comm 2 - Ch1: Stennis Ch2: AWACS Ch3: Texaco Ch4: Shell

- F-14B radio frequencies dialed in as follows: VHF - Ch1: AWACS Ch2: Stennis Ch3: Texaco Ch4: Shell

 

Disclaimer: If you run this mission on servers for longer than 5-6 hours and run into weird issues (such as planes exploding when the server has been running

the mission longer than 10 hours straight, it's probably aliens causing it. I never get to test this for more than an hour or two at a time and it was never originally designed to push

those kind of limits. I had about 4 hours in mind at the drawing board.

Thanks for your work on this mission.

 

One suggestion I have would be to make support jets scramble from airports rather than spawn in the air.

 

Would be cool to see them get ready and takeoff.

 

Originally it was like that, except I saw too many instances where the AI would drive off the taxiway and get stuck and not take off when flying from Khasab. Also waiting for the AI to take off in front of you at Khasab is also super annoying. That is why it is the way it is. Red aircraft take off from the ground, blue aircraft start in the air. Compromises.

Changelog v107

- Snowfox Options menu, Skip Mission will allow you to put the selected mission back into the pool of available missions, and start a new one

- Due to requests, Khasab CAP flight of F-16's will no longer start by default to save on resources

- Snowfox Options menu, Snowfox CAP options will allow you to switch on the Khasab CAP flight of F-16's. Once you switch it on, it's on and cannot be switched off again

- Various other fixes

I really enjoy your mission. It seems to be neverending, varied, dynamic and unpredictable.

 

(Small discretion: I've just completed a novel about flying the A10 in the first Gulf war. They explain situations and conditions, for instance multiple missions in one patrol, aerial refueling to extend the patrol time when weapons are still on board, and so on. I have not yet been able to find a mission file to replicate all of these factors, other than yours. It feels realistic and challenging! Perfect fun to fly!)

 

When spawning anti-ship aircraft, they keep crashing in the mountains around Kasab if I don't send them towards the target right away. I believe this is an issue "easy" to work around, possibly by sending them right away, I don't know.

 

Also, Is there a way to activate the carrier group air-defence? I have been attacked after landing on the carrier, and they circle around the ship until I've been taken out. This is not a big issue, and not a gamebreaker at all!

But maybe a CAP out of the carrier group would be cool, just tasked with protecting the CG should there be any incoming threats, and the player is flying some other tasking or vulnereable when inbound to the carrier?

Do you remember which sector you had called anti-ship for when they crashed? I will investigate it. I wanted to keep them orbiting until a player was ready, incase they wanted to provide escort etc. I actually tried yesterday to put in a carrier defence pair of Tomcats but I had some performance issues on my 6 year old potato-computer. I will see what I can come up with. I will probably have to add it as another option under the CAP options menu to add a seperate squadron. Anyway I'll test the idea out next week.

Excellent. Looking forward to the results!

 

Regarding the Anti-ship flights, it's an irregular thing, so cannot say which sector it works and which they don't. My guess is it's a problem with the formation flying script for DCS where number 2 stops mid air to stay in place, and starts shifting weirdly, and ends up in the mountainside somewhere. (I hope I'm not the only one having this strange UFO behaviour...) Maybe a solution would be to increase the holding pattern altitude around Kasab?
