Confirmed with 220lb cargo container! The under slung load is OK when picking up, but when transitioning to forward flight this happens..

Even with the container set to 1000lb or 1500lb it still reacts like it has no weight. Setting it to 8818lb certainly gives it weight!

But lifting the barrels at 1058lb they don't react the same way as the container set to 1000lb. The barrels had weight to them and were no problem.

This screenshot was with the container at 1500lb. :joystick:

I have same problem, if you are super careful you can lift up but taking smth and bringing somwhere else impossible. Especially in VR you can see how rope is rappidly stringing and moving arround in totally unrealistic way, somehow boulding tension by itself. Once there was a perfectly fine rope:(

We tried sling-loading in 2.5.6 last night. Carefully kept the load within "swinging from side to side 5) and speed <140Km/h. Even as the engineer said "swinging from side to side 3" eventually the cargo was lost.

What are the prerequisites for proper sling-loading?

February 2021 and I'm still (or again) facing exactly the same Problem kam depicted in his Screenshots above. This Bug makes it currently impossible to advance with most of my MI-8 Campaigns from the DCS Store. As soon as I have to transport some Slingload (currently I'm playing the Oilfield Camaign) this Bug means "Game Over" for me. I just can't "feel" any Weight from the Cargo. Even when I lift a 7000lb Humwee there is no "Resistance" when the Line is tight, and a heavy Cargo swinging like crazy doesn't effect the MI-8 at all. Also I can Hover forever over the same Place, but my Cargo swings like crazy until the Rope tears apart. There is no Damping in the Swing Movement at all. I am really expirienced in transporting Cargo with the MI-8, but currently I can't deliver any Cargo over a greater Distance without loosing it.

Same here. Border campaign, I used to play stable 2.56 and no issues. Now I'm 2.7 open beta, and can't seem to transport the heavier cargo container (2000lbs). It's like there is massive wind changes, it goes from calm to all over the place, then snap!  Super frustrating.

Sling loading is an aquired skill - we do loads on DDCS (multiplayer server) to build ground units to control for the ground war (really good fun) and we are always looking for chopper players who like slinging so feel free to pm for details or just join straight in (no password).

So with confidence as literally sling load daily i agree, i would also say that it got alot worse a few patches ago earlier this year - so much so as a server we had to play around with the weights so much.

There is also an issue with the Huey.

Its pretty silly really as these are metal cargo crates and they crumple even at very low vertical descent speed.  You literally have to treat them like an eggshell.

All cargo mechanics should be made tougher.

Maybe in MP but in SP sling loading works pretty good in Huey. Just did a small test with 2000kg load hanging from Mi-8 in hover. I released the cargo and Mi-8 didn't even move, it just stayed in the same hovering position like the cargo weight was 1kg not 2 tones! It's unbelievable this bug has not been fixed since it was reported in 2018! Three bloody years.

I had been having problems slinging in the Mi-8 in The Crew campaign before 2.7. I had to stop playing it because I just couldn't get past a mission requiring a slingload out to an oil platform. Every time the load would just go nuts, swinging like crazy like in the screenshots above until the line broke. But after 2.7, for me at least, it seemed much more stable. I was able to finish that mission as well as the next on on the first try, both involving a slingload out to the oil platform. I kept my speed below 120 kph, which from my experience seems about as fast as you'd want to go while slinging, and everything was fine. The cargo never went crazy like it had been before 2.7.

It was fixed and then broken down and fixed again, until finally broken down sometime during the fall of last year. ED is looking into it.
