Three Noob Questions

Hi guys, just getting back into flying with a 7 year break in service, that being said:

Was on steam but decided to load directly.

1) I have FC3: I load up a fast mission and it sticks me about 5000 ft in my F-15C. I hit BVR as I know there is about 8 bandits 16miles out about 5-10K ft.

In BVR, the VSD is set to 20 Mi and the Scan zone is set to like 12-XX

My problem is- I use the R Shift- . to try to decrease scan zone... I also have it mapped to my X-55 on the hat using Infernus's profile.... Neither decreases the scan zone..it is stuck at 12-XX

I then tried to move the TD slew down and it goes to 10Mi VSD scan range, but still cannot lower the scan zone...any leads?

2) With this nice summer discount, I would like to buy modules. I was looking at the A-10 campaign. Since I have FC3 that has the A-10 module in it, Do I have to still buy another A-10 module to get the campaign??? (I ask as there is nothing in the description that says if you have FC3 it would work....as it does with other campaigns listed)

3) It still shows me as running 2.5.0.... how do I update to 2.5.5?

Thanks again all, hope to fly with you all soon!

1) I'm not sure but what you need is something with radar elevation.

2) With FC3 comes the A-10A. All campaigns so far are for the A-10C, which is not included in FC3.

3) DCS 2.5.5 is not out yet. But if you want to play 2.5.2, you need to download the Beta version.

I recommend getting the dcs update utility app from SkateZilla iirc the download link can be found in the dcs mods forum it allows multiple configuration boots, update, repair and clean plus from onand from off plus other options all at a mouse click. To go past 2.5.0 you need to download the open beta either directly or using dcs updater. I do think I saw that open beta 2.5.5 came out this week

1 More Noob question please?

When I exit the game, it states "Failure to Authorize" something about I cannot play live and I can only play for 2 more days???? I did port my FC3 SN over from steam, is that the cause?

1. "Scan zone increase" and "scan zone decrease" will adjust the azimuth (horizontal scan area) of the RADAR antenna between 120 degrees and 60 degrees; you're looking for "scan zone up" and "scan zone down" which will adjust the antenna elevation.

2. As others have mentioned, the payware campaigns are for the A-10C and are designed around its capabilities, such as the ability to edit navigation data in-flight.

3. You can find Skatezilla GUI updater tool HERE ; there is no need to download the beta version separately unless you want to, you can convert your existing installation.

4. You should be able to port your FC3 installation over from Steam without issues (and you have made the right decision in my opinion :) ) Be sure to sign into your Eagle Dynamics account when you launch DCS. If you have done so and are still encountering the issue, you may need to bind the key to your ED account; you can find the key by navigating to DCS in your steam library and click the "CD key" button.

Copy your FC3 key, open DCS standalone, and select the module manager (boxes at the top left of the screen) from the main menu. From here, you can go to the "installed" tab and click the "DRM" button to enter your key.
