Maybe it's not that important, but, please, revise the canopy scratches, they look awfully repeating at some points :(

Looking at IRL photographs, IMO they've quite nailed it actually.. The difference the time of day makes on the cockpit imperfections is very detailled.

On static screenshots, maybe, but I doubt it's noticeable while moving your head. Less repetition means longer load times. Which do you prefer?

Very easy to notice while moving your head. Especially when looking against the sun. Noticed it while watching both Persian Gulf live streams. I choose less repetition :/

Well, I totally agree with you, but, the scratches are too repeating. It's like they've made a very small template and copy pasted it to the whole canopy glass :(

Love the crazing and have no issues with it.

Now is there any news on the ground radar progress?

It's been said, and repeated in the stream; Ground radar will receive attention after early access, and after TGP.

Quoting Wags:

Navigation is basically done for the Early Access, but we’ll return to this after Early Access release and add additional functions like the GPS, Mark Points, Offset Aim Points (OAP), ...

Does that mean that the NAV system will not be receiving position and correction from GPS, so it will be subject to the greater drift?

Doesn't the F5 have that? I would suspect the F18 is going to surpass (eventually) all the little details that we have seen in prior aircraft.

I was also thinking that wing flutter and shake during taxi and pulling g's would be awesome if it were simulated in our new hornet! This would be a nice feature!

Did you consider alternative ways of handling drift correction for Early Access? The software application, DCS.exe, does not need a virtual GPS to update INS.

if (itsTimeToUpdtateIns)
{
   //ins.POS = gps.POS;  // uncomment when GPS available

   // until GPS is done, use exact model position
   ins.POS = aircraft.POS
}

I'd put my money on that.

Yeah, this is what I'm afraid of :) Reading what Heatblur were implementing INS wise, I was wondering if we get "honest" INS in Hornet's early access. So ins.Pos = %blackMagicphysicsVoodoo%

Would be cool to add exterior aircraft shaking/wing shaking for the F-18 during taxi…

Yeah on the F5 it’s a very nice feature! I would also love to see that on the Hornet :)

the wings and vertical stabs shake in real life.

Hi SkateZilla,

Answers will only come from Wags and ED Team members, Watch the recent live stream when Wags pulls High AoA to show the new vapor may answer your question.

I don't see why not, since the vertex shader is already at work on the F-5. I.e. the technology should already be there, in DCS, unless it's proprietary to Belsimtek.

Just need to change the input parameters based on the wing's half-span, cord, thickness, and if really zealous, its internal construction taking into account discontinuities such as the hinge. :smartass:

it's a bones animation, not a shader.

OK. I've been locked out of the source code repo since... forever, so forgive me. ;)

So in broader terms, I believe if it's done for the F-5, it should be little problem to apply to the F/A-18C. One more skeleton for the extra vertical fin?

Do you know if the flex is only applied graphically, or does it affect the wings' performance dynamically? Thanks.

Too many questions I cant answer.

One rhetorical question (i.e. does not command an answer), and one real question. For future reference, how many could I ask: zero? :music_whistling:

Yes, a bit of sarcasm but all in good fun. Looking forward to that awesome F/A-18C! Cheers!

Will the elevators be implemented in the new Carrier? For example, choosing a ramp start, the sim starts off with you on the elevator moving up to the flight deck. I don't care about artwork below deck. It can be just a blank texture. I just want to be able to move up to the flight deck. That would be amazing and a dream come true. :thumbup:
