philstyle
This is one of many airfields on the Normandy Map where the AI is unable to affect a landing due to the placement of trees shortly before the threshold, WITHIN the perimeter fence! The particular airfield is Maupertus (near Cherbourg), approaching on Runway 10 Furthermore, this airfield only has 6 spawn points... very much sub-standard for DCS maps. I understood that that ED/ UGRA Media will do no more work will be done on this map.. but the map doesn't work (this is only one of many such issues), and therefore should not be sold as a complete product IMO. This issue was reported to ED in early August: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217798 Edited September 19, 2018 by philstyle On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/philstylenz Storm of War WW2 server website: https://stormofwar.net/
Captain Orso
Whether trees were cleared from the approaches to airfields in Normandy, I can't really say. What is certain, is that the AI aircraft are flying a fixed flight path blindly, not taking any obstacles into account, which is just wrong. Also, the operations in general need to be overhauled. WWII fighters did not line up with the runway 5 miles out and fly a 5° glide slope into landing. That's just silly. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Birko
Came to report this issue, but found this thread. AI aircraft cannot approach runway 10 without crashing straight into trees.
Birko
I removed trees a while ago to watch AI aircraft actually land. and I'm pretty sure I remember they were landing short of the runway. Will go try that out now and screenshot.

Birko
Have you messaged someone about this? Might get it seen sooner, think some forum sections are scarcely monitored
71st_AH Rob
No one from Ugra (or Yurga) Media appears to monitor this forum or the Russian language one either. At least they have never responded to a post on the English or Russian forums. I think we can only continue reporting the errors here and hope that they address all of them when they publish the update to the map that ED announced would come after the Syrian map is released. Birko
Hello, it looks like AI warbirds don't crash on landing anyore with the update but they still land short of the strip.
