David OC
gizmo, you might be better off posting something like this, down in the PC Hardware and Related Software Section, with your PC specs and DCS settings. The Nvidia Control Panel settings depend on many things and what you looking or hoping to get from you PC specs, It's all about finding a good balance with the demand of simulating flight simulation. . i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. You look like you have a top rig..do you run 4k or multi displays? Perhaps the wrong combination of game settings can cause issues even on top hardware. These are my settings for DCS 2.1 at the moment, DCS is going to be more optimized moving forward and I can turn these settings up more in different type of smaller missions, the settings and screenshot below are from the new Spitfire Campaign with quite a few AI and objects etc. I was trying to find a good balance here. I only have the 1070, CPU overclocked at 4.9 when flying this mission. Frames are from 55 to 100 FPS. I also have Gsync which helps smooth things out. Try these settings for a start and tweak from there, it will change as ED makes updates. Edit. This was at 2560 x 1440P screen res. gizmo
Yes i run a 49" UHD curved 4K TV. Thank you very much for your settings. Will see if this helps. Unfortunately my TV does not have Gsync. If you want Peace, be prepared to fight for it ! :pilotfly:
David OC
Just remember gizmo that a TV will never be smooth because of some input lag, most tv's have large input lag, so you might think this is why you have problems in DCS with your setup, especially if you're using Track IR. I have the ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms. That's a 1 millisecond refresh rate @ 144 Hz. Your TV in Game mode might have a 21 millisecond refresh rate for example. See if your TV has a game mode setting? We were discussing this recently here, No TV's run G sync, quite high end monitors only. . aceviper
Just in regard to antialiaising on a 4k screen. Anything more than 2x is not needed and will just increase the performance hit.
gizmo
Guys can i ask you for your advise please? Which monitor would you recommend for flight sims? I mean something which is perhaps in the 4K resolution instead of a TV. I have to agree with a TV, the graphics are not really that smooth regardless of settings unless I'm missing out on something. I tried the above settings given by David OC but it has shimmers on the external view which really annoys. I would love to have a smooth experience with good visuals. I'm pretty sure there can be a compromise between both on a good monitor iSO a TV unless there are good setting out there for a 4K TV. Your thoughts please? HiJack
Philips 40" 4K LED I have a Philips 40" 4K LED (BDM4065UC) screen witch is a monitor and not a TV. It has the PC interface that is needed, namely 3 x DisplayPort version 1.2. The DisplayPort connection is really important! And it has to be version 1.2 or higher. I’m happy with it but as default I run the 2560x1440 resolution instead of 4K. 4K draws much on both CPU and GPU if I don’t go down on many of the DCS settings. I have found that best performance/graphics settings for my rig are 2560x1440, also makes the screen usable for normal applications without enlarging Windows text. Further I set MSAA and Anisotropic Filtering in DCS and make sure the GPU driver is set to “Application Controlled” for both of these, if you do not then you will lose a lot of FPS and DCS will be sluggish. I also run Vsync settings only in GPU driver because the DCS one draws too much frames (windowed mode because of Simple Radio usage). With this settings I get frames ranging from 30 - 80 depending on location, sometimes also down in the 20’s but that is more now on the new 1.5.7 and 2.1 versions of DCS. Get a 4K but first be sure your HW is up for the job! DCS is a power drain on GPU, CPU and disks. Check my spec in the “Spoiler”. Hope this helps on the way to 4K. EDIT: Maybe a bit unclear. Setting MSAA and AA on both GPU driver and in DCS will drain the frames! And please note I have OC'ed my CPU to 4.8! HiJack
Please note that if you are going for OverClocking I recommend the same mainboard as David have, ROG Maximus IX Hero Motherboard, as this is more specialised towards OC. JackHammer89
Hi guys, I just plugged in Vinnie Jones' settings and the graphics are lovely. For note I'm running i5 7500 not-OC, 8Gb corsair vengeance lpx 2133mHz, 6gb 1060 palit card at default settings. I have V-sync on atm and only managed a quick 1-2min flight before bed but it sat at 60fps for the whole flight over sukhumi in a Ka50.
