Default AIM-120 behaviour

Hi,

Look at the attached screenshots. The AIM-120 is still giving a alert even when looking down on a 1vs1 engagement.

I am not a missile specialist, but I would be surprised that the AIM-120 own radar is capable of looking in that direction.

Brgds,
Vincent.

I think all active missiles do this. I had an R-77 on my RWR after I evaded it and I was definitely not within 60 degrees off its nose

It's a DCS thing. All radar missiles do that. Hopefully the new API will fix this.

not trying to be snarky, but you do know it takes like 5 seconds for the RWR audio warning to stop after the missile stops tracking, right? Or does the warning persist even beyond that?

missiles often see outside of their FOV.

They track, but apparently don't navigate to that track while the lock is outside their FOV ?
Look for an Ironhand post.

In a short time, the AIM-120C has become a slow missile operated by Hornet. But the same missile on the F-16 is lethal. Those of us from the beginning with the F-18 noticed all the changes and nothing goes unnoticed.

If I'm right or wrong, I will never know because I'm just an amateur and I don't know the actual behavior of the missile. But the truth is that its efficiency launched from the Hornet in DCS has decreased significantly.
