Removing 1.2.16

If I wanted to save time and data transfer, I would go for option 2.

1.5.2 OB and release branch are the same at the moment, so installer will just copy all the files form OB and won't download anything.

Obviously, that applies only if you're not interested in keeping OB for the future at all.

In this case I would recommened to remove the release version and keep the openbeta instead.

That's what I'm doing for more than 2 years now and I'm quite happy with it. :)

A) Update.

It'll copy data from the 1.5 open beta as they're currently the same version.

If you don't play multiplayer, then what version you keep is up to you. If you play multiplayer, you'll want to keep the release branch.

+1

probably a bit late for you now but in Windpws CP.... 'Programs and Features' I had 1.2.16 and 2.0 listed but not the open beta as that was effectively a copy, not an install, of 1.2.16 converted to 1.5 beta. I worried that there might be some registry issues so I manually deleted 1.5 beta and updated 1.2.16 to 1.5.

Thanks for your answers. I was evaluating your proposals and I'll probably uninstall 1.2.16, download 1.5.2 installer and install a brand new 1.5.2 (for sure that will copy files from other versions). So, my current 1.5.2 will go on as a beta.

Hi

My DCS instal is sitting at almost 100gb.

I have all 3 versions.

Open alpha is half that, with openbeta at 27gb or so.

Can I remove the original yet and if so how without affecting the others

Thermaltake View 91, Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Ultra, i9 9900K, Corsair H150i Pro, 32Gb Trident Z 3200, Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 2080ti, Corsair AX1200i, Warthog A-10 Hotas, MFG Crosswind pedals, TiR5 Pro, HP Reverb Pro

Yes.

Er, I'd say no for now actually.

ED have moved the BlackSea map into the mods folder in 1.5.3 in prep for the big 1.5->2.0 merge, but obviously that map still only exists in the release and open beta builds at this time.

If you delete them (and just keep 2.0), you'll have to download the Black Sea map when they merge everything into 2.0.

If you can afford the HDD space, might as well keep the install so you don't redownload ~4GB or so again.

:shocking:

Ok, I was planning to keep alpha and beta.

Havent touched to original instal in ages so figured it was sort of just 'clutter'.

I can hang onto it. Damn it it's DCS after all  and I will make a plan if necessary.

You only need 1.5.3 and 2.0 . What would be the point of keeping 1.2?

This!

For 1.5.3 you can either keep the open beta or the stable release branch depending on your preferences regarding beta updates.

For 2.0 there is just the open alpha so you have to stick with that.

1.2 is outdated and you can get rid of it (It should autoupdate to 1.5.3 if you start it. Does it not?).
